One of the only hotels in the Jimbaran Beach area that's directly on the ocean, the mid-sized Jimbaran Puri is a quiet Balinese escape with a luxurious yet relaxed vibe. Spacious, rustic-luxe rooms have patios or private pools, though the tradeoff for the high level of privacy afforded is that the majority lack ocean views. A large, chic pool with a poolside bar faces the ocean and sunset. The two on-site restaurants and 24-hour room service help ensure that guests are well fed, and the extensive breakfast buffet is typically included in the rate. There are spa services available on the beach, and the grounds are lush and tropical, with a temple and various statues offset by lots of native greenery. However, the beach can get a bit dirty and the property lacks a fitness center. Still, this is one of the top hotels in the area; only a few hotels (including Jamahal and Kayumanis Jimbaran) can compare.
Scene
One of the top luxury hotels in Jimbaran Beach, with a rare oceanfront location, a high level of privacy, and a laid-back tropical ambience
The Belmond Jimbaran Puri is one of the top luxury hotels in the area, and all of the rooms here are enormous cottages or villas (starting at 120 square meters, or nearly 1,300 square feet). The generous private outdoor space and the lush, tropical landscaping help ensure a high level of privacy. As does the intimate size -- with only 64 rooms, the property is smaller than the pricier Four Seasons Bali (if not quite as exclusive as the 19-room Kayumanis Jimbaran Private Estates). The quiet resort is popular primarily with couples but is still family-friendly. Guests check in at reception in an open-air, thatched-roof lobby, surprisingly without the usual fanfare and welcome drinks offered at some of the other properties in the areas (though guests may be offered a free drink at the bar). The grounds are stunning and well kept with mini-temples, lily ponds, and stone statues intermixed with tropical foliage.
Location
On the southern tip of the island, right on Jimbaran Bay
Located on the southern tip of the island, Jimbaran Puri Bali is located right on the desirable beaches of Jimbaran Bay, but is also only a 10-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Benoa Square and the Jenggala Factory are both within a few minutes' drive away. Since a long driveway delivers you to the entrance of the resort, there isn't much immediately surrounding the property, but there are a few seafood restaurants a short walk down the beach.
Rooms
Huge, rustic-luxe rooms with private pools or patios
Every room at Belmond Jibaran Puri is an enormous cottage or villa, and all offer separate seating areas, big bathrooms, and private outdoor space. The resort offers Luxury Cottages, Two-Bedroom Cottages with one king bed and two twins, and beautiful Deluxe Pool Villas with private swimming pools, but note that only eight of the 64 units overlook the ocean. Dark wood floors are offset by white walls, teak furnishings, and traditional Balinese art pieces. The high thatched ceilings make the already large rooms (starting at 120 square meters, or nearly 1,300 square feet) feel even larger. Most rooms have beds with artfully draped mosquito netting and come with pillow menus. Robes, slippers, and free bottled water are provided, and daily turndown service is included. All rooms have minibars, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and electric kettles. Luxury cottages have shower/tub combos with rainfall showerheads and sunken tubs, while other room types have separate walk-in showers and stone baths (some showers are outdoors, which may be a nuisance when it rains). Luxe toiletries and hairdryers mean fewer items to pack.
Features
Direct beach access, large pool, two restaurants, a reading lounge, and a beach spa
One of the few actual beachfront resorts in Jimbaran, guests can walk out of their rooms and onto the beach in just a few minutes. Unfortunately due to currents and litter, sometimes the ocean water is a little too dirty for swimming. However, the large pool overlooking the ocean is a welcome alternative for those wishing to take a dip or just chill on one of the cushioned lounge chairs with a drink from the poolside bar.
There are two on-site restaurants. The beachfront Nelayan Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner every day and serves Indonesian-influenced Mediterranean cuisine. Tunjung Restaurant has a free, casual breakfast service in the morning, closes for lunch, and reopens at night when its illuminated by candlelight. Room service is also available 24 hours a day.
The spa at Puri Bali is really more like two beach huts and a whirlpool, but guests can schedule relaxing treatments -- including side-by-side massages for couples -- in these traditional open-air "bales" that look over the ocean. The resort also bills itself as a destination wedding spot and can arrange ceremonies under a bamboo pavilion or right on the beach. In addition, a dark-wood reading lounge with books, a computer with a printer, and comfortable seating is available. Parking and Wi-Fi are free for hotel guests.
