Style is a bit dated
The 177-room Bali Garden Beach Resort is a sprawling, three-pearl resort overlooking Kuta Beach and less than a 15-minute walk from the beach town's many restaurants, shops, and attractions. Rooms are large and unfussy, outfitted with all the requisite amenities and decorated in slightly dated Balinese style; many have balconies or terraces, and either ocean or garden views. Family Rooms and Villas are especially spacious, and have private courtyards and kitchenettes. The 13 restaurants and bars offer a range of international cuisines and drinks -- some paired with panoramic ocean views -- but the resort's standout features are the three outdoor pools, one of which has a small kids' area and a swim-up bar, though all three close early in the evening. There’s also a spa, which offers a full range of treatments and has a deep soaking tub. Breakfast is included in all rates and there is free parking, but spaces are limited. Ramayana Resort & Spa offers many of the same features, but it's not on the beach, so rates are lower.
Scene
Traditional Balinese style and architecture surrounded by lush gardens and water features, all overlooking the beach
The beachfront Bali Garden Beach Resort is designed in a traditional Balinese style, its sprawling tropical gardens filled with traditional statues, fountains, and architecture. The lobby pavilion feels especially old world, with its soaring wooden beams, open-air design, carved accents, and traditional artwork. The adults-only spa pool maintains a similar style, with carved stone statues and lush greenery, while the other two pools feel more modern in their style, with plenty of sun loungers surrounding each.
Each of the 13 bars and restaurants has a style that at least somewhat corresponds to its theme: the Boardwalk Restaurant and Bar has black wicker outdoor seating, lanterns, and beach views; the traditionally styled Indonesian restaurant Warung Damar is decorated with hanging glass lights; and the Mexican-inspired AriBar channels a lively atmosphere with brightly patterned bench seating and yellow tables. KaBar has a sports bar vibe and is decorated with black-and-white-photos, a pool table, and a projector screen; Ryoshi Japanese Restaurant uses traditional Japanese artwork and accents; and the Italian-inspired Il Tempio is more upscale, with rich red curtains and hardwood floors. Sangoes, Wokmie, and Kopi & Kue share a multicolored outdoor seating area. The hotels caters to a wide range of tourists, from families to mature couples.
Location
On the beach, within walking distance of all Kuta's attractions
The Bali Garden Beach Resort has direct access to Kuta Beach and is within walking distance of Kuta Square, the Discovery Shopping Mall, and many of the town's restaurants. Tuban Beach, Waterbom Park, and the Kuta Theater are also within walking distance, and Ngurah Rai International Airport is less than a 10-minute drive away. Seminyak Beach and Legian Beach are a 13-minute drive from the hotel and Turtle Island is about 30 minutes away.
Rooms
Large, traditional Balinese-style rooms with all the requisite modern inclusions; many have private terraces and ocean views
Rooms at the Bali Garden Beach Resort are spacious and outfitted with all the requisite modern amenities, though the traditional Balinese style and architecture can make them feel somewhat more dated than they are. Dark wood accents and furnishings and floral accent fabrics contribute to the traditional feel. All have light stone-tile floors, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges and safes, coffeemakers, and air-conditioning. Some rooms feature balconies with seating areas and overlook either the ocean or the tropical gardens; others have private courtyards and minibars. Family rooms include wooden bunk beds and water coolers, and Villas have two bathrooms in addition to kitchenettes, with stoves, toasters, and full-size refrigerators. The modern bathrooms have gray tile and light-colored countertops, as well as shower/tub combinations, though some rooms only have showers.
Features
Three outdoor pools (one adults-only, one with a kids' area), 13 restaurants and bars, full-service spa, direct beach access
The Bali Garden Beach Resort has three pools. The infinity pool, with panoramic ocean views, is surrounded by wicker lounge chairs, tropical trees, and a lawn. At the main pool, there are submerged chairs and tables at the swim-up bar, as well as a small kid’s pool and plenty of loungers. The serene spa pool, lined with cabanas and flanked by an Indonesian temple, is open only to adults and spa guests. All pools close early in the evening.
13 bars and restaurants are popular with guests and non-resident visitors; each serves a different kind of international cuisine. The Boardwalk Restaurant and Bar serves Mediterranean cuisine and the Coffee Shop serves the free daily breakfast buffet of pastries, cereal, eggs any style, and pancakes. Il Tempio Restaurant and Bar offers family-style Italian dishes, while Ryoshi Japanese Restaurant serves fresh sashimi, tempura, and sushi. Mexican dishes, sangria, and margaritas can be ordered at AriBar, and Indonesian classics are served at Warung Damar. Sangoes (sandwiches), Wokmie (noodles), and Kopi & Kue (coffee and cake shop) are more casual, quick stops. KaBar is a popular spot for cocktails.
The full-service Tari Spa offers a range of beauty and wellness treatments, as well as relaxation areas. Wi-Fi is available for a fee.
