Exterior and traffic noise can be an issue, though, and some rooms show wear and tear. The outdoor pool with a kids area is a major plus here, as is the free, expansive breakfast. Scene
A tropical, open-air hotel with traditional Balinese architecture and a marvelous garden
This traditional Balinese architecture throughout this property -- composed of low-slung brick and concrete buildings -- has a simultaneously homey and exotic vibe. Statues, carvings, and tropical flowers adorn the orange entrance, and guests receive welcome drinks in the open-air lobby, which has light tiles throughout and high ceilings. It's a breezy and comfortable space, with wood furniture with green cushions for seating. The Nasi Bali Restaurant, another open-air venue, has soft gray chairs alongside contemporary, dark wood tables under a traditional, peaked Balinese wood ceiling. Black countertops cover the bar area, which also has a flat-screen TV. A beautiful tropical garden that's filled with trees and flowers surrounds the hotel and the pool, which draws many guests -- primarily couples and families on holiday -- back year after year.
Location
Central, but traffic-clogged area -- many sights and beach within a 10-minute walk
The Adi Dharma Cottages are located right on Legian Road, a busy street with constant traffic jams that runs through Kuta. This is a crowded area of town and several of the hotels in the area have loud nightclubs that stay open very late. Restaurants, bars, spas, shops, and the Kendra Gallery are a five-minute walk form the hotel. The Bali Blast Monument is a five-minute walk from the hotel while the Beachwalk Shopping Center and Kuta Beach are within a 10-minute walk. Seminyak Beach can take over 20 minutes to reach depending on traffic. The Kuta Square shopping area is a 10-minute drive from the hotel, while Waterbom Park and the Discovery Shopping Mall can take 10 to 15 minutes to reach by car. Ngurah Rai International Airport and Lippo Mall are a 15-minute drive.
Rooms
Simple rooms with Balinese accents and balconies or terraces, some with garden views
The air-conditioned guest rooms at the hotel are spacious and simple, with a few Balinese accents throughout, including traditional artwork, and contemporary teak-toned furniture with window-side bench seating. Walls are white and floors are white tiled, which can feel austere or breezy depending on guests' perspectives. Green striped bed runners add color while free bottled water and coffeemakers reside on wood desks. Minibars are tucked inside cabinets with 32-inch flat-screen TVs on top. All rooms have safes and free Wi-Fi as well as furnished balconies or terraces -- some with beautiful garden or pool views. Modern bathrooms are plain, with tan tile from floor to ceiling, in addition to black granite countertops with contemporary bowl sinks and toiletries. Superior bathrooms are narrow, while Deluxe bathrooms are much larger, though some bathrooms only feature stand-up showers. Some rooms suffer from exterior noise due to traffic and neighboring nightclubs, and furniture shows a good deal of wear and tear.
