The beachfront property oozes style and a celebratory atmosphere that features a nightclub and live DJs at one of the two attractive pools. The 299 super stylish rooms were seemingly designed to induce envy on Instagram, but some guests complain about the bathroom design that lacks privacy. Three restaurants include the Japanese Katsuya and Italian fare from award-winning Chef Michael Schwartz, plus guests have access to other dining venues across the Baha Mar resort, as well as to features like the expansive ESPA, golf course, and casino. Families with kids will prefer the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, and those wanting a more quiet and sophisticated experience should opt for the Rosewood Baha Mar.
Scene
Luxury beachfront hotel dripping with style and a party atmosphere
Part of the massive Baha Mar Resort that opened in November 2017, the 299-room SLS provides a more intimate boutique experience compared to the neighboring 1,800-room Grand Hyatt Baha Mar resort and more of a party atmosphere than you'll find at the neighboring Rosewood Baha Mar.Occupying a large pastel-pink building, the SLS features chic interiors with a luxurious and subtly beachy feel. It delivers on its promise of "style, luxury, and service" (the acronym of SLS) with its sunlit, airy spaces that are decked out with contemporary furnishings and peppered with plants: palms, greenery, and vases of pink hydrangeas in the lobby, plus; a green wall sprouting succulents in the Cleo Mediterraneo restaurant. Decor is mid-century modern with unexpected bold slashes of color and whimsical design and art.The massive beachfront grounds that the hotel occupies are rife with tall palms, lush greenery, and immaculate landscaping. Two beautiful outdoor pools are skirted in palm trees and chic loungers, day beds, and cabanas that make for luxurious sunning and swimming. Couples are the main clientele, attracted by the party atmosphere of the place and youthful vibe.
Location
Right on Cable Beach and about a 20-minute drive to Downtown Nassau
The hotel is situated on Nassau’s Northern Shore, occupying a prime location right on Cable Beach, a scenic slice of sandy shore with crystal clear turquoise water. There are several other hotels in the surrounding area, and some dining options, like a Starbucks that's a three-minute drive away. Downtown Nassau is about a 20-minute drive away, with attractions like the Straw Market and the National Art Museum. Paradise Island is a 25-minute drive and Salt Cay is around a half-hour drive. Lynden Pindling International Airport is a 12-minute drive from the hotel.
Rooms
Super stylish and hip rooms -- many with balconies; suites and residences have living rooms and kitchenettes
Trompe l’oeil wallpaper takes center stage in these mostly white rooms and adds a theatrical flair. The rooms feature sleek white furniture, while pops of turquoise in the stools and minibars interrupt the monochrome hues. They're full of sunlight thanks to large windows or sliding doors that open onto balconies. Some rooms have balconies with ocean views, while others face inland. Instead of dressers, there are bar carts sitting beneath the 42-inch flat-screen TVs that hold well-stocked minibars and capsule coffee machines. Wi-Fi is included with the resort fee. Sleek, modern bathrooms have walk-in rainfall showers, magnifying mirrors, Ciel Reserve toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers. Some guests complain about their lack of privacy, however, as they have clear doors. There are over a dozen room categories to choose from here, ranging in size from 358-square-foot rooms (33.3 square meters) to 716-square-foot (66.5 square meters) suites with living areas and kitchenettes. There are One- and Two-Bedroom Residences too, that have space for living rooms and kitchenettes.
