Resorts World Bimini

With their cute white porches and cute pastel exteriors, the rows of well-landscaped houses that constitute the condo section of Resorts World Bimini have a much quainter look than the hotel rooms at the on-site Hilton. They also offer more privacy and, thanks to their kitchen or kitchenette facilities, at least the option of self-sufficiency. As a result, they appeal to a mixed bag of vacationers that can run the gamut from multi-generational family groups to a party-hearty platoon of friends. Though as access to the pools, restaurants, and wellness features are shared, the complex can feel a bit busy and some maintenance issues have been reported. Nevertheless, the volume of facilities and stunning beachfront make this a popular option.

Located on the thin tail of Bimini’s north island, Resorts World Bimini sits some 50 miles due east of Miami. Many visitors never feel compelled to leave the hotel, thanks to the fact that the 750-acre property contains multiple bars and eateries, a selection of pools, two marinas, and a glitzy casino. Free hop-on tram service allows guests to negotiate the sprawling spot. Golf carts and bikes can be rented at the resort for those wishing to go farther afield; fishing excursions and such can also be booked for off-site adventures. Arriving and departing guests travel via plane to South Bimini Airport or take the two-hour ferry connecting the Port of Miami with the South Bimini Port, and then hop on a shuttle boat for the five-minute trip onward. Privileged vacationers can reach the property by taking a private boat to the resort’s own marinas, which can accommodate vessels up to 200-feet long. 

The resort’s cottage-like condos range from Studios to four-bedroom houses, all of which share a colorful, colonial-inspired look. Exteriors are painted in charming pastel hues, while interiors have a homey mix of wooden furniture, ocean-inspired accents in coral lamp posts and beach photographs, and granite countertops. The smallest of the lot come with adjustable air-conditioning, ironing facilities, digital safes, flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, and somewhat unreliable Wi-Fi, which is covered by the mandatory daily resort fee. Plus, they have convenient kitchenettes with microwaves, mini-fridges and coffeemakers; stacking washer/dryers are welcome extra. All units have outdoor spaces, while larger cottages add separate living and dining spaces and full kitchens complete with stoves, dishwashers, and assorted small appliances. Daily housekeeping (which is not a given in similar places) is also included. 

The list of features that the condos here share with the Hilton is long and varied. The complex's crowning feature is different for many travelers, though many agree it's the gorgeous white-sand beach and its private beach club. However, while beach chairs are provided, umbrellas and towels cost extra. Another draw of this property is the 10,000-square-foot casino packed with slot machines and games tables. Marinas are convenient and fun for yacht-lovers, and there are multiple pools across the resort, including a rooftop infinity pool with stellar ocean vistas. On the downside, some past guests have complained of pools looking a bit dirty, and facilities are often crowded with people. 

Wellness options include a lovely spa with a full menu of treatments and an ocean-view fitness center with modern equipment. Ample meeting and event spaces are available, including a wedding gazebo by the beach. The resort also boasts multiple dining and drinking options -- a sushi bar, seafood and steak spot, and pizza eatery among them, though some aren't consistently open. Wi-Fi is free.
