Best Auckland Apartment Hotels
For many travelers, relinquishing day-to-day tasks like cooking and laundry are a big part of the travel experience. Others prefer to stay in accommodations that let them self-cater on their stay — and save some money along the way. Here are the top four apartment-style hotels in Auckland.
SKYCITY Grand Hotel
Central Business District, Auckland Central, North Island, New Zealand
SKYCITY Grand Hotel is an enormous luxury business hotel located below Auckland's landmark Sky Tower. The hotel's 316 rooms are available in eight categories, including Premier Self Contained Suites, which are more like serviced apartments with fully equipped kitchens, washing machines, and dryers. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, electric kettles for tea, capsule coffeemakers, iPod docks, safes, and blackout curtains. Bathrooms are large and contemporary, with lots of counter space, bathrobes, and luxury toiletries. Hotel features include three restaurants, an indoor lap pool, a fitness center, a luxury spa, and plenty of meeting spaces. However, the property's large size and corporate vibe can make it feel a bit impersonal.
CityLife Auckland
Central Business District, Auckland Central, North Island, New Zealand
CityLife Auckland is an apartment-style hotel in central Auckland, a four-minute walk to the Sky Tower. Entry-level rooms feature mini-fridges, but suites add kitchenettes or full kitchens and laundry facilities. All rooms are modern, and come with flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Like SKYCITY, CityLife has a heated indoor lap pool and fitness center with cardio machines and weights, but only one restaurant (serving all three meals) and no spa.
Waldorf Stadium Apartments Hotel
Central Business District, Auckland Central, North Island, New Zealand
Located right in Auckland's Central Business District, the Waldorf Stadium Apartments Hotel is a luxury serviced apartment property with 170 accommodations ranging from Studios to Three-Bedrooms. All units have full kitchens with stainless steel appliances, washer/dryers, and flat-screen TVs, but be aware that some of the king beds are actually two single beds pushed together. As is the case with many serviced apartment properties, there aren't a lot of facilities on-site, but guests get access to the pool and gym at LifeStyle Fitness, which is down the street. Waldorf Stadium doesn't have a full restaurant or a spa, like CityLife Auckland, but a hot buffet breakfast is available (for a fee).
The Quadrant Hotel and Suites
Central Business District, Auckland Central, North Island, New Zealand
This 150-room apart-hotel in Auckland’s finance and business district provides an upscale base near the city’s harbor area. Spacious suites include kitchenettes, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Some have separate living areas and balconies with harbor views. Bathrooms are a good size, but none feature bathtubs (book an upgraded room at CityLife or Waldorf Stadiums Apartments for that). The Quadrant's restaurant serves all meals a la carte, for a fee, and other on-site facilities include a small fitness center, sauna, and hot tub.
