Grand Resort Lagonissi

Grand Resort Lagonissi is an upmarket beach resort, ideally located on a peninsula just outside of Athens. It is close enough to the city for day trips and sightseeing, but far enough to maintain the feel of a private retreat. Surrounded by the sea, the property offers stunning beaches and lush grounds with many options for dining and pleasure. Interiors have an upscale, if somewhat dated look, with plenty of comfortable spaces to gather. Couples and families appreciate the relaxing atmosphere, while business travelers come for the on-site conference and business facilities. Upscale services, well-appointed rooms, and miles of coast makes this a popular choice for a getaway from city life.

Grand Resort Lagonissi occupies a small peninsula in southern Greece, south of Athens. It is just off the main coastal road through the Athens Riviera, and while plenty of restaurants and sites are accessible by car, there’s nothing else within walking distance. A public bus stops directly in front of the hotel, on the main road. The nearby town of Glyfada is a popular area for its marina, shopping, and casual eateries, plus a lovely beach -- all a 30-minute drive from the hotel. The Temple of Poseidon, a ruined temple with a stunning sea view is a 30-minute drive away, and a great spot to view the sunset. Athens, with its city atmosphere and multitude of must-see historic sites, is a 50-minute drive away. From the hotel, it is a 25-minute drive to Athens International Airport and a 50-minute drive to Pireas Port.

A wide variety of room options are available to suit guest needs. Decor is upscale and lovely, but dated in many rooms, particularly in the main building. Color schemes tend to be neutral, with beige and ivory tones, and plenty of wood in floors, trim, and furniture. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, Nespresso machines, and safes. Irons are not available -- guests must use the paid laundry service if needed. High-end extras like a pillow menu, butler service, and twice-daily maid service add to the lavish feel. All rooms have outdoor space, from a furnished balcony, to roomy terraces, or even a private garden space. Bathrooms are also upscale, but can be a bit dated in design. Some rooms have shower/tub combos while others have separate showers and tubs. Hairdryers and free toiletries are provided. There are nice extras like a shower cap, nail set, cotton balls, and a sewing kit provided. Other room options include suites, bungalows right on the beach, and private villas for rent. Upgraded rooms offer larger TVs, DVD players, whirlpool tubs, in-room steam cabins, and/or private pools. Some rooms also add walk-in closets, in-room fitness equipment, remote-controlled curtains, and heated floors. 

Grand Resort Lagonissi has a long list of quality services and facilities available to guests. One of the biggest draws are the 16 gorgeous beaches -- some private -- with free sunbeds, drink service, and stunning waters for an idyllic beach vacation. The main pool is also a beautiful spot, with wood decking and a quaint stone building for the snack bar. It is small, but few guests use it, given the number of private pools and beaches on the property. With seven restaurants, guests have plenty of choice in quality dining. The free breakfast buffet is sumptuous and plentiful. There are Polynesian and sushi, Italian, Cretan, and fresh seafood restaurants as well, many with a seaside view and al fresco dining. The food is good, but pricey for the area. An on-site spa provides a range of holistic treatments for further relaxation. There’s a fitness room with a standard range of modern equipment, but it is small for the size of the hotel. A cute mini-club with spaces designed for all ages and a sunny playground offer kids some entertainment. Tennis and volleyball courts, water sports, and sailing facilities are there for adults. For a more leisurely pace, there are an open-air cinema, shopping, and salon services. It is also a popular spot for conferences thanks to a wide range of meeting and event spaces. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, though some guests occasionally report difficulty getting a connection.
