The Tropicana is an enormous megaresort with over 2,000 rooms and suites spread across three towers. The rooms, which are plagued with dated decor and tube TVs, are not the highlight at this boardwalk hotel. Its Havana-inspired three-story streetscape called the Quarter is much more inviting, with an IMAX Theater, shopping, restaurants, and nightclubs. The Tropicana also draws visitors for its high-end spa, Broadway-style theater, and seasonal outdoor pool and bar -- not to mention the huge casino floor. A location right on the boardwalk and freebies such as Wi-Fi are convenient perks, but beware of long lines at check-in.
Scene
A mid-range megaresort packed with entertainment
The scene at the Tropicana is centered around the Havana-inspired entertainment area called the Quarter, a three-story streetscape full of shops, restaurants, and bars. This area of the resort feels more similar to Las Vegas than other nearby casinos. Palm trees, painted ceiling murals, and Cuban music all provide substance to the atmosphere. While shopping, dining, and IMAX are all draws to the Quarter, varied nightlife brings the energy. The dozen bars, lounges, and clubs at this resort include The Rumba Lounge, A Dam Good Sports Bar, Planet Rose Karaoke Bar, Ri Ra Irish Pub, and Tango's Lounge.
Location
On the southern end of Atlantic City’s boardwalk, steps from the beach
Located at the southern end of the boardwalk, the Tropicana provides great access to the beach. This resort is easy to reach on foot or by taxi. Other nearby casino-hotels include the Trump Plaza, Caesar's Palace, and Bally's.- 5-minute walk to the Trump Plaza and Boardwalk Hall
Rooms
Decor varies wildly between rooms, suites, and the three towers
Standard rooms at the Tropicana are mid-range and dated. Modern upgrades are on offer in suites spread throughout the three towers. The West Tower has spacious suites with a navy and white nautical theme and in-room Jacuzzi tubs, while premium suites in the South Tower have duvets, flat-screen TVs, and ocean views. The most contemporary and pricey of all are the Cielo Suites in the North Tower, which include a West Indies theme and feature wet bars, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, and temperature controlled wine storage units.- Standard rooms have dated comforters instead of duvets
Features
A thriving casino, Broadway-style theater, and high-end spa
Travelers choose the Tropicana for the features more than the rooms. In addition to the standard huge casino floor you will find across Atlantic City resorts, the Tropicana also offers a high-end spa, salon, and a great selection of shopping. The Havana-inspired entertainment area called the Quarter is another stand-out feature -- among the palm trees and fountains are nightlife options, restaurants, an IMAX Theater, and a Broadway-style theater. Relaxing features include the seasonal outdoor pool with Blue Parrot Pool Bar -- but both close early.- Casino with over 3000 slot machines and 135 table games
All-Inclusive / Food
Varied restaurant selection at the Havana-inspired entertainment area, The Quarter
The Quarter is a three-story streetscape with ceiling murals that is inspired by Havana. With low lighting, palm trees, and fountains it is a scenic place to go for a meal. Top restaurants here include Carmine's -- a New York City institution for family-style Italian food and Cuba Libre, a popular outpost from Philadelphia. Other options include Fin for seafood, Il Verdi for northern Italian, Golden Dynasty for Asian, and the Palm, a family-owned steakhouse. Casual dining and quick bites are readily available, including the 24-hour restaurant called Seaside Cafe. Room service is also on offer 24-hours a day.
