Scene

1960s-inspired style and communal lounging

The hotel, a building painted cream with white trim, has the wide hallways, slightly low ceilings, and occasional sweeping arch of a 1960s construction. The lobby has color and energy, with low-lying white and brown leather couches, striped green wallpaper on the ceiling, brown area rugs with psychedelic-like patterns, and hanging lights in a Neo-futurist style. Hallways and some walls are paneled in real wood, lending further warmth to the common areas, which abound with places to sit. The Hub restaurant and bar combines wood floors with white-tiled walls, colorful modern artwork, and the same green-striped wallpaper and low-lying couches as the lobby -- plus a few flat-screen TVs. This hotel is popular with business travelers.

Location

Three miles from the airport, within a few minutes’ walk of chain restaurants

The hotel is situated just under three miles from the airport (hence the name), on a stretch of suburban road a few blocks from a small strip mall and a plethora of other hotels, as well as within walking distance of a number of standard restaurant chains. A free shuttle links the hotel to the nearest MARTA station two-and-a-half miles away; once at the station, the commute downtown is about 20 to 25 minutes.

Rooms

Standard chain rooms with design-oriented touches

The rooms here are nothing spectacular, but do offer an overarching aesthetic through a brown and blue color scheme that extends to the wall colors, as well as through contemporary design carpeting and the occasional piece of framed art. All rooms have a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, an iron, a large flat-screen TV, and a hairdryer. Alarm clocks look straight out of the 90s. Larger rooms have a kitchenette area with a sink and microwave. Bathrooms include plastic shower/tub combos. Guests comment favorably on the level of cleanliness in the rooms. Some have noted that ground-floor rooms near the reception area may receive unwanted noise.

Features

Small outdoor pool, fitness center, comfortable business center

The spacious fitness center is laid out along a hallway; machines are far apart from each other and divided in some places by partial walls. It holds a handful of exercise machines and some free weights. The common areas are a prized asset here; there are extensive places to sit in the lobby and adjacent to the bar and restaurant, as well as a comfortable business center with a long wooden table furnished with several Apple desktops as well as a couple of printers. There is a small but attractive kidney-shaped outdoor pool with lounge chairs and umbrellas. The restaurant and bar are open 24 hours, and there's an on-site market with snacks and beverages. A free shuttle to and from public transportation is available. As is often the case with local hotel shuttles, the 24-hour shuttle run by the property stops at the domestic terminal only.
