Bottom Line

A good fit for business travelers, the Golden Age
Hotel Gardens offers six conference rooms and a
full restaurant, an on-site bar, a tasty breakfast buffet, and free Wi-Fi. The modern,
upper-middle-range hotel is a bit far from major tourist attractions, but other business
hotels are nearby. Some of the hotel’s 122 rooms are on the small side,
and Standard Rooms don’t have coffeemakers. Guests might also want to check out Herodion Hotel, an upscale property within a 10-minute walk of the Acropolis and Parthenon, but it has slightly higher rates.

Scene

Business hotel with open common areas

Guests will find a bright, open lobby with a board
announcing the groups that have booked the hotel’s conference rooms for the day.
Marble floors, a fireplace, and a grand piano add classic touches, while
bookshelves and seating areas with black chairs and white couches give the
space an office ambience. Just off the lobby area is the full restaurant, with tall ceilings, wooden floors, and lots of natural light. A small bar with
round tables and Greek-inspired art provides a spot for guests to sit with a
coffee or a cocktail, and a long breakfast buffet is set up in a room with tile
floors and orange and white linens.

Location

Near other business hotels and a 10-minute drive to the Parthenon and Acropolis

The
hotel is located in the eastern part of Athens on a busy street across from a
small park. It’s not within walking distance to the Parthenon or Acropolis, but
both are within a 10-minute drive. The Athens War Museum and
Byzantine Museum are both within walking distance. Other business hotels are
nearby, and Athens International Airport can be reached in less than 30 minutes.

Rooms

Small Standard Rooms, and Suites with large, modern bathrooms available

Some of the rooms
at the Golden Age Hotel Gardens are smallish, and Standard Rooms with wall-to-wall blue carpeting look a tad dated (though the small, furnished balconies, some overlooking a small park, are a nice amenity). Coc-Mat Rooms are more modern with Coc-Mat
bedding, wooden floors, and contemporary bathrooms with basin sinks, makeup mirrors,
and rain showerheads. All rooms have flat-screen
TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Executive Suites are available with modern decor, including LED lighting and double bathroom sinks, glass shower stalls, and
separate whirlpool tubs.

Features

Tasty breakfast buffet, full on-site restaurant and bar

For a fee, guests can enjoy a tasty American
breakfast buffet with a corner dedicated to Greek delicacies. There are also a
restaurant serving Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, and a small bar serving
cocktails and coffee. In-room spa services, such as facials and massages, are available.
Six fully equipped conference rooms can be configured in a variety of ways for
meetings or private events.
