Bottom Line

Located in Exarchia, a bohemian neighborhood famous for
its history as a stronghold for Greek anarchists, the Best Western Museum Hotel is a
mid-range chain property that offers a cozy lobby bar and a tasty
breakfast buffet. The neighborhood might not be for everyone, but some may appreciate the location’s distance from the throngs of tourists. The 93 rooms have basic decor typical to chain hotels, but come with mini-fridges and free Wi-Fi. Young guests looking for an inexpensive option closer to the touristy areas may want to look into Athens Studios, a hotel with a youth-hostel vibe and apartment-style rooms with kitchens.

Scene

Classically decorated hotel on tree-lined block with cozy bar

The Best Western Museum Hotel comprises two
colorful adjacent buildings with gray balconies on a tree-lined street. Inside, the lobby is classically decorated with a wooden front
desk and a Greek statue framed by white columns. A free breakfast buffet is
served in a plain room with wooden tables decorated with yellow and white daisies in
glass vases. A cozy bar area has round wooden tables with maroon and blue
suede club chairs and a bookshelf with books for guests to read. On top of the bar is a large glass dispenser full of orange
juice that's available to guests for free throughout the day.

Location

In bohemian neighborhood, across from a park and the National Archeological Museum

The Best Western is located in Exarchia, a bohemian, artsy neighborhood with plenty of bars and cafes that's famous for its
anarchist history. It’s across the street
from a park and from the National Archeological Museum. The Acropolis and the
Parthenon take about 30 minutes to reach by bus and
Athens International Airport takes an hour to get to on public transportation or about half an hour by taxi. Note that there isn't any parking at the hotel.

Rooms

Basic rooms with mini-fridges and free Wi-Fi, some balconies

Rooms have basic decor, with
blue or beige carpeting, light walls, and wooden
headboards and matching wooden framed mirrors. Rooms have mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs,
and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have small bathrooms with tight shower stalls; others have roomier bathrooms with shower/tub combos. Rooms with balconies are available, and the Executive
Double Room offers a whirlpool tub and huge terrace with mountain views.

Features

Free breakfast buffet, cozy bar, and meeting rooms

Although the Best Western Museum Hotel doesn't offer a ton of amenities, the few it does offer get positive feedback. A free breakfast
buffet is offered daily and receives good reviews for its tasty items, including continental dishes and local specialties such as Greek yogurt. Free orange juice is available all day in the cozy lobby bar. An unfurnished rooftop terrace offers great views of the city, although its lack of furniture may deter some guests from hanging out there for long. There is also an Internet corner with two computers and a printer, and two conference rooms available
for meetings. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
