Hotel Miracielos is a three-pearl property on the beach with both traditional hotel rooms and modern apartments. Rooms are simple and clean but the apartments are particularly appealing with sleek furniture, hardwood floors, and full kitchens. A lush, natural landscape and fast access to outdoor activities like paddle-boarding and hiking are the main draws for the area. There is a simple breakfast cafeteria and bar on-site. The rural location means guests encounter more cows than cars.
Scene
Small, simple, seaside hotel
A sandy cove beach, green rocky mountains, and clear blue water are all part of the setting surrounding the Hotel Miracielos -- but unfortunately these views can't be seen from the rooms and public spaces. Instead, windows overlook the interior lawns and gardens of the property. The lobby is nondescript, apart from bold red walls and a curvy peach reception desk. A small reading room includes a few bookshelves and board games, with windows overlooking the parking lot. The hotel is only a short walk to the beach and the remote location has a definite country, peaceful vibe complete with wandering cows and the daily call of roosters.
Location
On the Bay of Biscay in a semi-remote village
The Costa de Llanas area is famously rugged and picturesque. There are several resorts and hotels in the area. With a car, the hotel has an ideal location for exploring more than 30 nearby beaches and ancient Spanish villages (parking at the hotel is free). The caves and mountains of Picos de Europa are almost a two-hour drive inland from Hotel Miracielos. Some guests have noted that the road to the hotel lacks clear signage.
Rooms
Modern apartments with kitchens and balconies or simple, standard hotel rooms
Though the apartments at Miracielos are more expensive than the standard rooms, they're ideal for families or visitors who want to cook. The kitchens look brand new with stainless steel appliances while the rest of the space is bright and airy due to light hardwood floors and high ceilings. Furnishings have clean lines and pops of color, like a lipstick red armchair. Unfortunately, none of the rooms have views of the water. The "queen size beds" consist of two twin beds pushed together. Guests have expressed that the sound of roosters crowing can take some getting used to. Standard rooms are simple spaces, with a colorfully painted wall as the only real design touch.
Features
A cove beach and free breakfast
The free breakfast served in the skylight-lit cafeteria gets mixed reviews. Lunch and dinner aren't served on-site, but there's a large bar for cocktails and espresso. Free Wi-Fi and parking are nice perks but you won't find a pool or fitness center at the hotel. The main draw is the beachfront location and fast access to natural excursions. Staff can arrange activities from hiking to golf to mountain biking.
