Tropic Apartments is quiet and secluded. Palapas, and yellow buildings with terra-cotta
roofs, create the look of a little tropical retreat. Palm trees and potted plants provide a bit of color to the outdoor areas. Guests are a mix of singles, couples, and families,
with the hotel mainly appealing to anyone who prefers a peaceful base away from the
island’s buzzing beachfront areas. The hotel owners live on the same property,
so they’re often available to provide recommendations.There are a
few shops and restaurants in the neighborhood, but overall this hotel is likely
to feel quite isolated for guests without their own transportation. The pool
area is lovely, but with virtually zero other on-site amenities, this is the
kind of low-key property that you only return to in the evening when you’re
ready to relax and sleep.

casinos, and shops of the island’s High-Rise Hotel district are three miles
away. It’s a 20-minute drive to the California Lighthouse, and 10 minutes by
car to the Royal Plaza Mall. Queen Beatrix International Airport is about four
miles away.

baskets stocked with a can of soda, a bag of chips, and some tourist brochures
about the islands. Many rooms feature French doors, which open to furnished patios
facing the pool.Kitchens are a bit old-fashioned but functional. These offer mini-fridges, stovetops, microwaves, coffeemakers, and cookware. All rooms
include iPod docks and flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms are plain and tidy, featuring
showers and stand-alone round sinks with no counter space. Dispensers are
stocked with Aruba Aloe brand shampoo/conditioner, bath gel, and hand soap. Suites offer larger kitchens with ovens and full-size
fridges. Suites also include larger dining tables and separate sitting areas. Past guests have complained that housekeeping can be as infrequent as once per week.
