Two (Relatively) New Great Eats in San Francisco
Find irresistible cupcakes, whoopie cakes and other classic cakes at the new SusieCakes bakery, which a few months ago opened its first San Francisco location in the Marina district -- a short hop from the Hilton at Fisherman's Wharf. This is the second outpost of the Los Angeles bakery that has opened up north -- the Greenbrae branch in Marin County debuted in January.
For more sweets, enjoy a taste of Hawaii at Two Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, an easy stroll from the Hyatt Regency.
There, Blue Hawaii Lifestyle eatery is serving up its signature açaí bowl -- an organic, non-dairy, non-yogurt sorbet made with the açaí (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) berry from the Amazon rainforest. These berries are packed with antioxidants, amino acids and other good-for-you nutrients.
Enjoy the sorbet topped with organic granola, organic honey, strawberries, bananas and blueberries. Or try it whipped up into a smoothie with soy milk, apple juice and add-ins such as peanut butter, protein powder or Hawaiian spirulina. A small, 8-ounce serving of the acai sorbet contains about 300 calories.
