Trump's latest hotel, Trump SoHo, opens in downtown New York
The Donald (or more accurately, The Donald's son) opened his newest hotel on Thursday -- the Trump SoHo in downtown New York. The folks at Trump were kind enough to give us a tour this morning, a little something to sate our appetites (and yours!) until we return to do a full, undercover review.
The 46-story glass tower stands on the corner of Spring Street and Varick Street, just a few blocks from the Hudson River and a short walk to the heart of SoHo. The David Rockwell-designed interiors are impressively detailed (if a bit masculine), with plenty of stone, walnut wood, and hand-stitched leather elements throughout common spaces. "Verticality" is the lobby's focus, with a ceiling that's two stories high and front doors that seem almost equally tall. The rooms, however, take the cake: plush beds covered in Bellino linens, unique furniture by Fendi Casa (the first time it's being used in a hotel), spacious marble bathrooms with tons of natural light, and views of uptown and the Hudson that are absolutely to die for.
We're looking forward to re-visiting the hotel in a few months, by which time the spa, pool deck, and "urban plaza" (AKA outdoor space on the ground floor) are expected to be open.
