Top beaches at Disney World
- The Contemporary Resort
- Disney's Polynesian Resort
- Disney's Grand Floridian Resort
The Polynesian Resort has the top beach at Disney World. When it first opened, you could actually surf there! There is an island in the Seven Seas Lagoon that holds a surf machine facing the Polynesian Resort. It was turned off because it was eroding the beach, though there's a rumor that it will be turned on again sometime soon. But perhaps the best thing about the beach at the Polynesian is the ambiance; when you walk around, you truly feel like you're in Hawaii. When you walk out past the pool and see the amazing sandy beach, you can almost feel the tropical breezes.
If you want to play a little beach volleyball, you'll find courts at several of the Disney Resorts. The best is at the Beach Club Resort (imagine that!), which in addition to beach volleyball courts also has one of the top beaches at Disney World (the hotel sits on Crescent Lake, not the Seven Seas Lagoon).
Most of the Disney Resorts have at least some semblence of a beach. plus a marina where you can rent a dizzying array of watercraft. Playing out on the water is a nice way to spend an afternoon outside the theme parks, so pack a cooler, grab your Beach Boys CD, and hit the surf!
