The Best New Year’s Eve Party Hotels in the U.S.

New Year’s Eve is often a pricey proposition – but if you love to party, it’s a prime opportunity to dance your tail off at some of the country’s hottest clubs. And if you’re traveling to a major city for a night on the town, note that there are plenty of hotels with truly fantastic party spots right on-site. When you’re ready to stumble home to bed after ringing in the New Year, all you’ll have to do is head upstairs. So go ahead -- take a look at some of our favorite party-hearty hotel options for New Year’s Eve.

  • Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Los Angeles

  • The Hollywood Roosevelt is home to some of the most popular celebrity haunts in L.A., an impressive accomplishment in a town that has its fair share of celebrity haunts. The New Year’s Eve bash will take place at Tropicana Bar, which is centered around the chic pool area.

  • SLS Miami

  • Since its star-studded opening party in November 2012, the SLS South Beach has become one of Miami’s hottest hotels. Its 20s-themed New Year’s Eve bash at Hyde Beach promises to be quite the swanky affair, with a three-hour open bar and signature dishes from Japanese restaurant Katsuya. The 140-room property features direct beach access, sexy rooms, high-profile restaurants, hip bars, two large pools, and a great address on swank Collins Avenue.

  • Dream Downtown, New York City

  • Dream Downtown is one of the trendiest hotels in New York City, thanks in no small part to its high-profile nightclub. Countless celebs have partied here, from Robert Pattinson to Cameron Diaz – and this New Year’s Eve, you can party here too! General Admission tickets buy you access to a four-hour open bar, live DJ performances, and a champagne toast at midnight.

  • Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Las Vegas

  • Las Vegas is known for drawing celebrity headliners to its New Year’s Eve parties, and this year, Planet Hollywood managed to trump the competition. Its New Year’s Eve show features none other than pop diva Britney Spears, who is kicking off a two-year run at the hotel. Those willing to shell out for a VIP package get front-row seats and an opportunity to meet the star.

  • Palace Hotel, San Francisco

  • The Palace Hotel’s New Year’s Eve bash is hands-down San Francisco’s craziest hotel party. The party sells out every year, and its no wonder – guests can expect dancers, drummers, a bikini fashion show, a photo booth, balloon drops at midnight, and four rooms featuring different DJs. The elegant, century-old Palace may be one of San Francisco’s grand dames, but this old gal still knows how to show folks a good time.

  • Liberty Hotel, Boston

  • The Liberty Hotel’s Rhapsody in Blue New Year’s Eve party promises to be a great time, with multiple DJs, dancing, and live performances on every level of the hotel. The 298-room hotel occupies a former jail and incorporates the incarceration theme in fun ways (the restaurant off the lobby is named Clink., while the downstairs lounge –complete with iron-barred windows -- is named Alibi). We can’t help but feel that there’s something particularly satisfying about letting loose here.

  • The Drake Hotel, Chicago

  • The Drake advertises its New Year’s Eve party as the hottest in Chicago, and it’s hard to argue with that claim. The party takes place across four separate ballrooms; Chicago’s top DJ will be spinning house and hip-hop music; hors d’oeuvres and buffet food are served; and there’s a champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight. The only thing not included is your midnight kiss.

  • Marriott Marquis New York City

  • If you’re coming to New York City to see the ball drop, there’s no better place to do it than at the Marriott Marquis. This 1,949-room behemoth in the middle of Times Square could not be more centrally located for the festivities – whether you want to join the revelers in Times Square, or watch the ball drop from the comfort of the hotel’s Broadway Lounge, where there will be live music, hors d’oeuvres, and an open bar.

  • Wynn Las Vegas

  • Rapper and DJ Lil Jon is hosting the New Year’s Eve party at Wynn’s uber-popular nightclub, Tryst. The 12,000-square-foot club has a 90-foot waterfall, go-go dancers on tables, waitresses with prepared shots (tequila and lemon drops), and plenty of scantily clad twenty-somethings. The lounge, where there are sitting areas for bottle service, looks out on the surreal Lake of Dreams.
