Everyone knows a water park is only as good as its best slide, so we did a little digging and found the tallest, longest, and most heart-stopping slides on Oyster. Put on your big-boy pants, because these slides are not for the faint at heart.
The Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, or as we like to call it, king of the waterslides, tops our list. Not only does it boast the highest number of slides, but it has some of the wildest rides we’ve seen. Most intense is the Leap of Faith, a 60-foot vertical drop from the top of a Mayan temple. As if that’s not thrilling enough, the slide takes you through a shark tank.
And that's just one of the many slides to conquer on your trip. Race a friend on the Challenger; try out the pitch black, 200-foot long with a 50-foot drop The Abyss; slide through a shark tank on the five-story Serpent; take on some rapids on the Surge; buckle up on the Falls (more like a wet rollercoaster than a slide); and weave through jungles and caves on the Jungle Slide.
The Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino offers the most terrifying slide in Vegas. Not only is it three stories high, but the slide goes around and through the hotel’s 200,000 gallon aquarium. This is no run-of-the-mill aquarium filled with colorful tropical fish: Outside the transparent tube the tank is filled with sand tiger sharks, nurse sharks, and zebra sharks. Let’s hope you are going too fast to notice what’s lurking around you.
The longest hotel waterslide on Oyster is at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort. Not only does the slide weave you around the pool complex for an exciting 240 feet, but the thrill continues once you are spit out the bottom. The Hard Rock Hotel has an underwater music system, so pool-goers can listen to tunes while in or out of the pool.
Disney Boardwalk Villas caters to kids with the 190,000 gallon Luna Park pool. The second longest slide on our list – about 200 feet long – is a great adventure for kids of all ages, and weaves around the circus-themed pool complex. Appropriately, the ride ends when you slide out through the mouth of a red-haired circus clown.
It might be hard to take the plunge onto one of Beaches Negril Resort and Spa’s twisting and turning waterslides when you see both are more than 200 feet long. The enclosed tubes weave riders around until they reach the bottom. Need an excitement break after the ride? Slow down in their 800 foot long lazy river.
