Party in Miami: South Florida's best annual festivals
Miami’s peak season is upon us, which can mean only one thing – PARTY TIME! In 2010, the month of March showcases several of Florida’s best annual events, drawing millions to the streets, the beaches, and the clubs of the city to celebrate life and the flavors that define Miami. Three incredible parties are described below.
Calle Ocho Festival - On March 14, the pinnacle of Carnival Miami explodes in the heart of Little Havana with an extraordinary street festival to honor Cuban culture. The frenetic vibe on the street embodies the merriment and charisma of the late Celia Cruz, who danced her way down Eighth Street well into her eighties. With over 30 stages of live music, DJs, and dancing, prepare for a full day of non-stop insanity with a million of your new closest friends and South Florida’s fiercest chongas. The Epic Hotel is a 15 minute taxi ride to the heart of the action. SW 8th Street, between Avenues 4 and 27
Winter Music Conference - A wonderland for rave crowds and cutting-edge music enthusiasts, Winter Music Conference, March 23-27, draws together 40,000 party-goers, amateurs, and professionals for the largest DJ showcase in the world. Worshiping the sounds and beats of drum ’n’ bass, techno, and house, W.M.C. fanatics transform Miami Beach into a enormous dance floor with over 250 events in hotel bars, lobbies, and venues. The Eden Roc Renaissance is this year’s host hotel.
Winter Party - Between March 3 and 8, the Miami L.G.B.T. community toasts the winter sun through this annual nonprofit event for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Thousands of international studs gather for a weekend of glamorous pool parties, beach parties, and special events. The Double Tree Surfcomber has returned this year as the official host hotel.
