Miss Universe 2010: Where the contestants were spotted in Vegas

Now that Mexico's Jimena Navarrete has been crowned Miss Universe and the ladies (and pageant host Bret Michaels) have left Las Vegas, the city has returned to normal -- well, as normal as Vegas gets. But while the international beauties were in town, they rested their well-groomed heads at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, where the televised competition was held on Monday night. The contestants participated in charitable and promotional events at the hotel, but ventured elsewhere for entertainment. After the jump, check out where the ladies stayed and played during their 3-week stint in Sin City!

After arriving in Vegas, the contestants posed for a picture in front of the city's famous welcome sign with last year's Miss Universe, Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela. They also participated in the National Costume Show (in which they flaunted costumes from their home countries) and fashion shows for swimsuit designer Tala Raassi at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Convention Center and The Palms Casino Resort.

The contestants posed for the official Miss Universe 2010 swimsuit poster at Mandalay Bay Beach wearing Dar Be Dar swimsuits by designer Tala Raassi. We imagine that the notoriously crowded hot spot was emptied for the sake of the photo shoot.

The contestants were housed at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on the Strip, where they enjoyed TVs in the bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, well-stocked minibars, separate soaking tubs and standing showers, comfortable sofas, marble countertops, the iHome iPod docking alarm clocks, and giant, 42-inch HD flat-screen TVs. Guests rooms at Mandalay Bay start at 550 square feet, so the ladies had plenty of space to get their beauty rest.

During their stay, the contestants attended a special dinner cooked by several celebrity chefs, including Todd English and Rick Moonen. A few of the contestants also participated in a hot-wing-eating contest at Diablo's Cantina at Monte Carlo Resort & Casino. After scarfing down a total of 13 wings, Venus Raj from the Philippines was declared the winner. Unfortunately, that was the only title Miss Philippines received in Vegas -- some critics believe that her answer during the Q&A portion of the competition ultimately cost her the crown.

  • Where they got "All Shook Up"

  • Viva Elvis at Aria Hotel & Casino

The ladies saw Terry Fator & His Cast of Thousands -- a puppet show of sorts -- at The Mirage. A few days later, they visited the King (or at least one of Vegas's many convincing impostors) in Viva Elvis at the newly constructed Aria Hotel & Casino.

The Miss Universe 2010 pageant -- a joint venture by Donald Trump and NBC -- was telecast almost live (in case of another wardrobe malfunction, no doubt) from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. The panel of celebrity judges included Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek, actress Joan Rivers, entertainer Criss Angel, supermodel Niki Taylor, and actor/producer William Baldwin.

The after-party was held at LAX nightclub at the Luxor Hotel & Casino. Unfortunately, not all of the contestants could attend the event -- many of them were underage.
