Luxury Brand Six Senses Chooses Portugal as the Destination for Its First European Hotel

A luxury spa brand with an expanding portfolio of chic resorts, Six Senses has just announced its plans to open its first European resort property in the spring of 2015. While the company owns six spas throughout the continent, Six Senses has chosen northern Portugal's Duoro Valley, an UNESCO World Heritage area and the oldest wine producing region in the world, as the site for the resort. With 71 guest rooms and private villas spread across 19 acres, the new Six Senses will include a Wine Academy, two restaurants (which will rely on produce from the hotel's garden), two pools, tennis courts, and of course, a massive 24,000-square-foot spa with 10 treatment rooms and a variety of traditional, as well as wine-based, offerings. It's gonna be hard to wait till Spring 2015 (and knowing hotels, more likely Spring 2016), but for the time being you can still explore some of Portugal's most beautiful cities, like Lisbon and Cascais, in style.
