Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando!

It's the 20th anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando this year, and to celebrate, the park is making the event bigger and better, with eight haunted houses, six scare zones and the always eventful Bill and Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure.

I've been attending HHN almost every year since I was about 14, and I've always found the haunted houses to the biggest draw. Universal goes out of their way to make sure everything looks and feels just as real as it does see in the movies. This year I highly recommend The Hallow'd Past, which celebrates the past 20 years' worth of houses. It's located inside a props studio, and the props from scary movies and past Halloween Horror Nights are displayed. Each room reflects a popular house from a previous year.

Scare zones are areas of the park where your worst nightmares walk amongst you, and sometimes carry chainsaws. This year Zombie Gras, a Mardi Gras party for the undead, was worth strolling (or running) through. Zombies dressed in the colors of Carnival dance in a bizarre fashion through fog -- and scare you when you least expect it. There are five other scare zones throughout the park that will keep you on your toes and begging for more.

Finally, Bill and Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure is a live show based on important things that have happened in pop culture throughout the year. I will sadly admit that this year did not live up to any of the previous years. I would recommend skipping this show and catching an extra haunted house. The cast even makes a joke that since no good movies came out, they had no content to work with. But resorting to Mr. T and a bad Twilight skit certainly didn't bring down the house.

It's worth purchasing the Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass, because the lines were very long. HHN 20 takes place on select nights until October 31st. You can buy your tickets at http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando/ . Stay nearby at the Hard Rock Hotel At Universal Orlando.
