5 Caribbean Hotels That Offer Singles Vacations

Single travelers don't often get enough love from hotels. Many seem to cater to couples and families with their vacation deals and packages. While this also happens in the Caribbean, there are a number of hotels there that offer vacations that cater specifically to singles. Some of these vacations are discounted packages, while others focus on events and activities during a specific week for the single traveler. Check out our list of resorts and hotels with single-friendly specials and deals, and perhaps you'll find love -- or a new singles-traveler tribe!

  • 1. Occidental Carribe

  • The Pool at the Occidental Caribe/Oyster

The Occidental Caribe is a modern hotel with a beachfront location in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. While the all-inclusive resort has a lot to do -- three pools, a beach, and a spa -- it provides singles with a fabulous Singles Week retreat a few times a year. Travelers who book Singles Week vacations at Occidental Caribe can participate in a great mix of events and activities, like an introduction cocktail party, themed dinners, dance and fitness classes, and shows. There are also more singles-specified engagements such as speed dating and contests for the sexiest men and women, as well as saucy events like pole dancing and costume parties.

  • 2. Barcelo Maya Grand Resort

  • Water Sports at the Barcelo Maya Caribe & Beach/Oyster

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort is one of the top family-friendly resorts in Mexico, but it is making an effort to reach singles with a Singles Week at the end of summer (generally in September). During this week, guests can book rooms in four of the five resorts (all but the Palace) that make up Barcelo Maya Grand Resort. The itinerary includes daytime activities like sushi-making classes, snorkel tours, and mini-golf tournaments. While there is night entertainment like parties and shows at the theater, it’s a bit less spicy in nature compared to other Singles Weeks you might find at resorts like the Occidental Caribe.

  • 3. Temptation Cancun Resort

  • The Grounds at Temptation Cancun Resort/Oyster

Singles looking for a risqué vacation should consider the adults-only Temptation Cancun Resort. Unlike most resorts and hotels in the Caribbean, Temptation Cancun Resort caters specifically to singles (and adventurous couples) with activities and an environment that focuses on all things sexy, rather than more innocent romance. It’s a topless-optional resort with events like late-night dance parties, lingerie nights, and pole-dancing classes. The resort staff encourages guests to have fun, especially around the Sexy Pool -- yes, that's what it's called. The hotel doesn’t offer a specific Singles Week, as it’s a primarily singles resort year-round. That being said, it offers rates based on the number of people staying in a room, so singles will always pay less than groups or couples.

  • 4. Grand Oasis Cancun

  • The Pool at the Grand Oasis Cancun/Oyster

Grand Oasis Cancun is known for two things: having the largest pool in Cancun and its epic Singles Weekend during Memorial Day weekend. The all-inclusive package for the Singles Weekend includes hotel stay and all meals and drinks, as well as a cruise, snorkeling, and a golf cart on an Isla Mujeres excursion. Twister on the beach, a scavenger hunt, and live shows in the evening are among other activities singles can participate in over the weekend. And for the singles who want to connect with others on a more intimate level, Single Mingle Dining creates such an environment that can possibly produce romantic results.

  • 5. Breathless Punta Cana Resorts & Spa

  • The Pool at the Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa/Oyster

The gorgeous white-sand beach, pool, spa, and adult-only policy is enough to entice travelers to visit Breathless Punta Cana Resorts & Spa. However, with “Single and Ready to Mingle” specials during the low season (August to December), solo-traveling singles have another incentive to visit. The special only waives the singles supplement, and thats a pretty nice perk for singles wanting to save some money at a resort that has an activity-filled and social-friendly reputation. Yes, the hotel is open to couples, but with activities like mud wrestling and beach barbecues, there’s less of a romantic atmosphere and more of a fun and engaging environment for singles to meet and interact.
