Best pedicure in a New York hotel spa

Bliss 49 spa at the W New York hotel in Manhattan

Whether your feet are calloused from hiking up and down seemingly endless subways stairs, or feeling flaky from heated indoor air, you can get baby-soft soles with the Foot Patrol Pedicure at Bliss 49. Located inside the still-trendy W New York hotel (there's a cozy fireplace in the lounge area) it’s also within walking distance from The Waldorf Astoria, Marriott East Side, The Benjamin and Intercontintental The Barclay.

Spa guests check into Bliss on the first floor for an access card, and then you can take the elevator to the double-level facilities equipped with eight mani/pedi stations. You might want to get there early to chill out at the relaxation station and enjoy the brownie buffet.

Foot Patrol is hands-down (pardon the pun) the best pedicure I’ve ever gotten. It takes 75 minutes and costs $90, but is worth the splurge if your feet need some serious softening. Margo, my nail technician, couldn’t have described it better when she said, “It’s like a facial for your feet.” Your technician wraps your feet in warm paraffin to infuse dry skin with oils, applies a professional-grade callous-remover lotion, exfoliates dead skin cells with a scrub, and massages feet with lemon sage lotion. Once your feet are smooth, you can choose a polish for the finishing touch.
