Bottom Line

The Lookout Point Lakeside Inn is a handsome inn that opened in 2003 on the picturesque shores of Lake Hamilton. This three-and-a-half-pearl property is a popular wedding venue, owing largely to its beautifully landscaped grounds. The 13 rooms are comfortable and individually decorated, and most include balconies or patios with excellent lake views, as well as fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. Its three-course breakfast and afternoon reception featuring wine and homemade treats draw rave reviews, and guests are welcome to use its boat dock and canoe for lake excursions. However, it’s well outside downtown Hot Springs, and rates are often on the high side. For a historic option closer to downtown, consider the upper-middle-range Hilltop Manor Bed & Breakfast instead.

Scene

Bright and homey bed-and-breakfast with a picturesque setting

Opened in 2003, this bed-and-breakfast is popular with wedding parties and couples celebrating special occasions. It wisely takes advantage of its picturesque setting on Lake Hamilton, with lots of relaxing rocking chairs and hammocks dispersed throughout the property. The landscaping is meticulous, with lots of mature trees, flowering plants, and even a multi-level waterfall that gently cascades down to the lake. A beautiful stone staircase leads down the small hill to the lake, where there's a boat dock. Interiors are bright and inviting, with warm yellow walls, oak floors, and lots of windows. Just like the outside, the common areas offer lots of cozy places to sit and relax, including a traditional sitting room with a stone fireplace flanked by oak bookcases. The spacious dining room also features a fireplace framed by striking green tile. Note that there's no elevator for guests staying on the upper floor.

Location

On scenic Lake Hamilton, about a 12-minute drive south of Hot Springs National Park

The Inn is located on Lake Hamilton, just off Central Avenue, which runs north into downtown Hot Springs, a 12-minute drive away. The immediate area is relatively quiet, with a few other hotels and a couple of restaurants within a 10-minute walk. There's also a pharmacy and a grocery store a two-minute drive away, while the Oaklawn Race Track and Casino is a nine-minute drive. Memorial Field Airport is 12 minutes away by car, and the Hot Springs National Park Visitors Center is a 14-minute drive from the hotel. The Magic Springs Water and Theme Park is a 19-minute drive. It takes approximately one hour to reach Little Rock and its airport.

Rooms

Romantic, individually decorated rooms with lovely lake views, most with balconies or patios

Guest rooms are meticulously maintained and each is individually decorated with romantic details such as sleigh beds and wooden wardrobes. Most have traditional decor and dark accent walls in hues of navy and chocolate, but large windows keeps things from getting too dim and somber. Though room size varies quite a bit, all offer ample space for comfort and include armchairs and -- in some cases -- desks and small tables. Most also have electric or gas fireplaces as well as private patios or balconies with excellent views of the lake. Whirlpool tubs are also common features in most, and some bathrooms feature separate walk-in showers. Standard amenities include robes, free bottled water, flat screen TVs with DVD players, and magnifying mirrors. There's also a 1,500-square-foot (457-square-meter), two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo on the property that features a full kitchen.

Features

Three-course breakfast, free afternoon reception, gift shop, and free hotel-wide Wi-Fi

One of Lookout Point's most attractive features is its three-course breakfast, served daily in the dining room, in rooms, or -- when the weather permits -- outdoors. There's also a free afternoon reception with homemade treats and wine plus a lobby station with free snacks and drinks. A fridge and a microwave are also available for guests' use. The lobby gift shop sells treats and souvenirs, including the inn's own recipe book. The inn also has its own canoe that guests can use as well as a boat dock for those with their own watercraft. Parking and Wi-Fi are free, and pets are welcome in four of the 13 rooms with prior approval. Massages can be arranged on request, and the inn has DVDs and board games that guests can borrow.
