Mediterra Art Hotel

With exposed stone on the exterior and a charming interior courtyard filled with gardens, a small pool, and a restaurant patio, there’s something both unassuming and elegant about Mediterra Art Hotel. The decor exemplifies a refined, historic vibe especially in the restaurant which has colorful tiled floors, fading frescoes, historic doors from the 1800s, and simple wood furniture that looks a bit antique. The grounds are lovely with small gardens placed here and there, filled with tables and chairs, bean bags, or loungers for guests to relax. Many guest rooms face the pool or gardens, which is a bit of a drawback when restaurant music or diner’s conversations carries into the rooms of light sleepers. The romantic, Old World vibe draws mostly couples -- tourists on vacation who appreciate the aesthetic and the central location in the old part of the city.

Mediterra Art Hotel has a convenient central location in Kalecici, or the city’s Old Town area. Restaurants, bars, and cafes abound on surrounding streets. It’s a four-minute walk to Hadrian’s Gate, and two minutes on foot to Broken Minaret, a historic mosque. The clock tower takes five minutes to reach on foot. Selek Bazaar is a good destination for a shopping trip and is just a 15-minute walk away from the property. For those with a car, Konyaalti Beach takes 15 minutes to reach, while Duden Waterfalls is a 27-minute drive away. Antalya Airport takes 25 minutes to reach by car from the hotel. 

Rooms at Mediterra Art Hotel are decorated in a classic and elegant style that reflects the hotel as a whole. While interiors vary somewhat in configuration and details, all have polished wood floors, white beds, golden chandeliers, and maroon textiles. Some bump up the elegance with exposed brick walls, wooden ceilings, or golden wallpaper.  Despite their historical looks, rooms are decked out with modern amenities including flat-screen TVs, minibars, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and safes -- though they lack coffee- and tea-making facilities. Bathroom styles, colors, and space limits vary, but all have small showers, free toiletries, and hairdryers. Do note that some rooms aren’t particularly spacious, but that’s not atypical for Turkey. Views also vary between the garden and pool, and take note that guests report bothersome noise from the restaurant in the evenings, from clubs and party-goers outside of the hotel, and even from neighbors due to thin walls. 

For such a small boutique hotel, there’s plenty of assets here like a small outdoor swimming pool in the hotel’s courtyard. There’s no loungers surrounding the pool, but there’s some in the hotel’s charming gardens, as well as some tables and chairs. As far as dining goes, a free traditional Turkish breakfast is offered daily, but there’s been varying reports about poor coffee and breakfast selections. There’s a Turkish restaurant on-site with indoor and outdoor seating by the pool. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi and parking, and bike rentals available.
