Scene

Charming boutique hotel with classical style and lots of character

Villa Erina Park Hotel has an elegant look from the get-go, with its natural stone walls and gated entrance. Surrounded by palm trees, the peach-colored building is trimmed in bright white -- columns, window frames, and staircase balustrades. The front door is flanked by two stone lion statues, and columns are encased in a neutral marble, adding to the upscale feel of the building. Inside, herringbone wood floors, Persian rugs, vintage black-and-white portraits, and framed paintings continue the classically upmarket look. There is obvious attention to detail at this family-run property, whose owners run a beach bar nearby that many guests visit for lunch or dinner. Little keeps visitors busy on-site at this quiet property, though an outdoor pool surrounded by greenery is undeniably lovely. Note that the

Location

Quiet, mostly residential area, but a short drive to the beach and restaurants

For a peaceful, calm vacation, this hotel is an excellent option. Its location is somewhat isolated in a residential area, meaning there's not much commercial activity in the immediate surroundings. However, the beach can be reached in about a 10-minute walk, and several restaurants and bars are within 20 minutes on foot. However, note that the walk back is uphill and may be strenuous for some. Malaga Airport is an hour's drive, while Jerez Airport is 90 minutes away. For exploring other nearby cities, Gibraltar and Marbella are both around a 40-minute drive away.

Rooms

Contemporary rooms with artwork, hairdryers, and flat-screen TVs

The 18 rooms are well-appointed and attractive, outfitted in varying decor with a similarly elegant style. Blending a classic look with contemporary furnishings, rooms have wood floors and furniture, neutral walls with artwork, and either plain bedding or velvet floral-print blankets. All units have sitting areas, air-conditioning, free and reliable WiFi, wardrobes with safes, desks, and flat-screen TVs. Some rooms add welcome features such as furnished balconies or big jetted tubs in bathrooms. Modern bathrooms have glass-enclosed showers, bidets, hairdryers, slippers, and free toiletries. On the downside, rooms don't have mini-fridges or kettles.

Features

Free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and outdoor pool area

The hotel doesn't have a ton on-site, but a highlight is the attractive outdoor pool set amid lots of greenery. In addition to palm trees, the pool is surrounded by hammocks and loungers under straw umbrellas. An indoor pool table provides an entertainment option, but there are no fitness or spa facilities here. All rates include a breakfast buffet, which consists of eggs, cereal, cold meats and cheeses, pastries, coffee, and juice. Unfortunately, that's the only meal served here. The family of owners also manage Romeo's Beach Bar, a well-regarded beachfront spot serving lunch, dinner, and a variety of beverages. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property and a computer is available for guest use by the lobby.
