This large chain hotel on the Andalusian coast is situated on a pedestrian thoroughfare parallel to the beach. Its rooms, spread out over several concrete buildings overlooking the Paseo Maritimo, are fairly basic and harken aesthetically to the resort’s construction in the '70s. The location is popular among families with children because of its variety of facilities, including a game room, playground, and mini-golf. The clientele here are largely French and entertainment is geared towards French speakers. There are few restaurants and shops in the immediate surroundings, but Torremolinos is an easy bus ride away. The hotel is near the Malaga airport and some guests have complained of airplane noise. Rooms are dated and bland; guests come here for the long list of amenities, but many come at an additional fee.
Scene
Large beachfront property popular with French families
The Pueblo Camino Real consists of several different pastel-colored concrete buildings housing a total of around 450 bungalows and rooms. The property is located in a residential area and is surrounded by apartment buildings and other hotels of the same nature. The lobby is an eclectic mix of different styles of velour easy chairs and polished marble surfaces, and leads out onto a small plaza.
Location
In a suburb of the resort town of Torremolinos, an easy bus ride to the city center
The hotel is located directly on the beach, a 40-minute stroll along the Paseo Maritimo (boardwalk) to the city center of Torremolinos, a popular resort town on the Andalusian coast. For guests not wishing to walk, there's a city bus station across the street and the train station is about a five-minute walk from the property. The Malaga airport is a 10-minute drive; it is also accessible via public transportation with a couple of transfers, but this option can take up to an hour.
Rooms
Small and plain, but at least rooms are airy with balconies
There is little attempt at decor or matching aesthetics in the rooms here, but they are reportedly clean and comfortable, if basic and a bit worn around the edges. Overall, the style is simple country. Floral bedspreads that harken to the '80s combine with dark, overstuffed leather couches for an eclectic ambiance. Family apartments have two-burner hotplates and mini-fridge, with some basic cooking supplies. All have balconies and flat-screen TVs
Features
Lots of playspace for children and a large pool and snack bar
The children’s play areas make this hotel popular with families and include an indoor room with small tables and chairs and a variety of toys, as well as a playground with a jungle gym and a swing set. There's also tennis, mini-golf, and exercise classes. The large pool, with its adjacent children’s pool and small whirlpool, is adjacent to a sizable outdoor covered snack bar. A restaurant offers buffet-style dining; many have noted the food options can be a bit repetitive.
