Dated fitness center
The Neptuno Hotel is a mid-level beach resort with 107 rooms and 126 apartments located a five-minute walk to the beach. With bars, shops, and restaurants a few minutes away, it’s easy to get out and about in Roquetas de Mar. A luxuriously big slide and waterfall-equipped pool, a fitness center (albeit a dated one), daily entertainment, and an extensive buffet are all nice perks that add to the value. Rooms have lackluster furniture (and dated touches such as patterned bedspreads), but they’re spacious, clean, and have free Wi-Fi and private balconies.
Scene
A spacious value resort
The Hotel Neptuno is located in a bustling yet low-key resort town. Many European couples and retirees spend weeks or a whole season in the hotel's comfy, spacious apartments. The hotel is located on a wide street lined with tall palm trees. The lobby is lovely, airy, and open with high ceilings and giant windows. It’s full of lush, leafy palms and other plants; lighting fixtures hang from single wires, and the flooring is shiny tile. A garage offers plenty of room to park. Wide hallways look over the lobby. There’s space to relax on modern, tan colored sofas, and a pool and air hockey table for those who feel like playing; vending machines are there to satisfy snack and soda cravings.
Location
Five minutes from the beach, and near many attractions and restaurants
The Neptuno sits on a wide street with bars, shops, restaurants, and a large supermarket. The beautiful Playa Serena can be reached by foot in about five minutes, and a 15-minute stroll from the hotel will bring guests to the 18-hole Playa Serena golf course. There’s a bus stop that can take guests to central Roquetas/Almeria about a three-minute walk away.
Rooms
Simple rooms and apartments, with free Wi-Fi and private balconies; decor is bland
Rooms are basic with white walls, tiled floors, and ho-hum, generic-feeling wooden furniture. The decor resembles that of a dorm room, with some dated touches such as patterned bedspreads. Private balconies are equipped with plastic lawn furniture, and overlook the pool or the street. Apartments offer more space; plus they have living rooms and kitchenettes complete with pots, pans, microwaves, refrigerators, and other essentials. Air-conditioning is strong and Wi-Fi is free. Bathrooms are small but clean, and stocked with toiletries. Rooms can get noisy at night.
Features
A large pool and entertainment galore
The Neptuno has a humongous pool with slides, a waterfall, and a palm-dotted sun terrace with plenty of lounge chairs. There’s a small indoor pool, too, and a shallow children’s pool for the kids. An open, airy buffet restaurant has a capacity for 480 guests, and features live cooking demos (of everything from pasta to paella) and a vast selection of ice cream and dessert. A coffee shop serves drinks and tapas. There’s a small, sunny gym (but it's dated), massage and spa services available), and a lineup of live shows and themed evenings, plus activities for kids. Big, window-filled event spaces are available for parties and meetings.
