The Melia Atlantico is a family-friendly hotel so expect lots of little ones at the beach and by the pool. Still, the property is large enough that couples can find a quiet spot. Tropical touches are prevalent on the landscaped grounds; picture tall palm trees, flowering bushes, and manicured rock gardens. The beach is accessed via a long wooden path, so you can't see the ocean from the swimming pool. Inside, the lobby resembles an atrium with a partial glass ceiling and potted plants. Clusters of garden style furniture are grouped together under white canopies to further the "outdoors brought indoors" feel of the space.

On the beach in Costa de la Luz
The Melia Atlantico is located directly on the beach in the high-end tourist destination of Costa de la Luz on Isla Canela. The surrounding neighborhood consists mostly of luxury residential homes and other hotels, so there isn't much to see or do without a car. Isla Canela Golf Course is a short drive from the hotel. The Portuguese border is also nearby. Expect to pay for parking at the hotel.

Yellow floral throw pillows and matching curtains add some much needed color. Gray striped carpeting looks worn and could use replacing in some of the rooms. Bathrooms include long vanity counters and free toiletries.
