As one of seemingly countless resorts in the area, the hotel does well against the competition (even if it doesn't necessarily surprise on any level). The style is beach-appropriate, which is a good thing given its prime spot overlooking the dunes of La Barrosa Beach. Interiors are pleasant and reasonably modern, though the color palette is starting to look a little less than fresh. Feathery indoor palm trees add pops of green that match the velvet seating, and everything is bright, light, and airy. The overall vibe is low-key, with accents like white marble flooring and a baby grand piano adding a touch of class. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow a peek of the expansive, bright green lawns and neatly manicured gardens outside. The hotel is ideally suited for families and young couples, as well as fitness enthusiasts thanks to its many sports facilities. In fact, many visitors come here just for golf holidays -- the hotel has two courses of its own and there are several more in the region.

Set above the scenic dunes of La Barrosa Beach, the immediate area is packed with other resorts, so there's not much to see on foot. The hotel is approximately a 25-minute drive from the cobbled streets Chiclana de la Frontera's old town center. There are also several historic attractions nearby, including the neo-classical Parish Church of San Juan Bautista, about a 20-minute drive away. The Chiclana Museum, devoted to the area’s history, is about a minute’s walk from the church. Another historical landmark is the 18th-century castle on the island of Sancti Petri, a 15-minute drive away. Some of the best views in town come from the Chiclana viewpoint at Ermita de Santa Ana -- about 20 minutes by car from the hotel. Otherwise, it's all golf courses, and there are two on-site (as well as several others nearby). Jerez Airport is just under an hour away.

Family Rooms are designed to hold up to four adults, and include separate living rooms and sofa beds. Suites, meanwhile, are a bit more attractive, with vibrant artwork, sleeker furniture, and contemporary lighting. These also include nice extras, such as Nespresso machines and larger terraces. Bathrooms in the entry-level units offer substantial counter space, but are on the dated side as well. The facilities in upgraded quarters are considerably more modern and impressive, with spacious whirlpool tubs, deep vessel sinks, and separate showers, plus a wider range of toiletries. Some have glass walls that make them open to the rest of the room, a feature that some guests say interferes with their privacy.

The hotel is certainly geared toward the outdoors -- as are many in this region -- and most of its best features are meant for active guests or sunseekers. Indeed, the main draw are the two 18-hole golf courses and driving ranges. They're within easy walking distance, but the hotel also runs a shuttle. The Iberostar Sports Center is also nearby. There are several on-site fitness amenities, including an oversized gym and two pools. Sensations Spa is a fine place to unwind and includes a beauty salon, a sauna, a jet pool, and a Turkish bath. The culinary scene at the hotel is equally diverse. Al-andalus Buffet Restaurant is a classy option open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For a more casual experience, the Alameda Grill Restaurant next door also offers buffet service, and has outdoor seating that overlooks the resort’s expansive green lawns. Manolete Restaurant, only open during the summer for lunch and dinner, is a formal eatery whose menu consists primarily of seafood. Note that men are required to wear pants at all restaurants. There’s also an airy beach club with sea views and a seasonal poolside bar. The lobby bar, meanwhile, is open year round. All-inclusive rates are available and include premium drinks.
