The hotel is equipped with multiple attractive, adequate pools, restaurants, and bars, but to reach the beach or town center, guests will have to drive or take the free shuttle bus. Sprawling vacation resort full of noisy crowds
The 374-room, two-building Hotel Roc Costa Park is modern, no-frills, and bright. The place calls itself a luxury property, but the bland architecture and lackluster decor feel mid-range. A five-floor and 11-floor building are connected through an underground passageway. The grounds are a bit labyrinth-like, and can be challenging to navigate. This is not the place for a peaceful, romantic getaway. The Hotel Roc Costa Park gets flooded with boisterous groups of local Spaniards and exuberant kids, especially on weekends and holidays. The pools have plenty of room for lounging, although are often crowded. Couples should probably steer clear of the main bar (a self-service area in a large function room), where evening kid-centric dances are held and noise levels escalate to unpleasant.

A beach hotel too far from the beach
Hotel Roc Costa Park sits on a major but quiet road. Most shuttles will drop you at the bottom of a hill, and you’ll have to walk up to the entrance — although a nice taxi driver may drive you to the door. For a beach destination, the hotel is far — about a mile — from beaches and from the hopping tourist town of Torremolinos. It's more than a 20-minute walk to reach any bars, restaurants, shops, or beaches. The hotel does offer a free shuttle, which runs frequently to beaches and Torremolinos’ hopping city center.

Ho-hum but pleasant rooms with stellar views
The rooms are serviceable but undistinguished, except for the generous views of sunshine-filled ocean, pools, and mountains. Request a room that looks over the picturesque Playamar beach. Big windows open to breezy terraces. There are few frills, but plenty of space, bright light, and good air-conditioning (you’ll need it in the summer months). Upgrade to a Junior Suite for flat-screen TVs and sleeker furniture. Bathrooms are adorned in festive Spanish tiles in the Standard Rooms; in the suites they are modern and spare.

Hotel Roc Costa Park is bursting with activities and amenities. Guests can choose from four pools — two for adults and two for kids, complete with slides, games, and waterfalls. Kids will likely appreciate the tennis courts, arcade room, playground, mini-golf, and scheduled activities such as “pirate fun.” For the adult set, there are several scene-y bars. The buffet restaurant offers an impressively diverse, abundant spread for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the fish is super fresh. Wi-Fi comes with a fee, but the bus to town and various beaches is free. There’s a bare-bones fitness room and spa, too.
