The 207-room Hotel Cordoba Center is a mid-range chain hotel that sits in an area of wide boulevards, shopping, and restaurants away from Cordoba's Old District, that lacks charm and atmosphere. Easily accessible to trains and buses, this hotel is a good fit for business travelers. There's a big rooftop pool (seasonal) with a solarium and rooftop bar that is open late. Rooms are comfortable and handsomely decorated, if a touch dated, with dark wood furniture, canopy beds, plush carpets, and modern bathrooms.
Scene
Corporate chain hotel
The Hotel Cordoba Center is large and modern, with a contemporary design based in dark woods and deep reds, purples, navys, and browns that give the common areas a rich look. As part of the Center Hotels chain, the hotel lacks old world charm and originality, but is more spacious than hotels located in the historic district. Throughout the common areas and rooms, the Hoteles Center logo is everywhere, on towels, shower enclosures, the bars, and more. Guests who prefer space and comfort to the more narrow European-style rooms in the historic district, and don't mind walking to get where they want to go, will find the Hotel Cordoba Center a good fit.
Location
On Cordoba's Manzana de Oro, near the train station, 20 minutes from the historic quarter
The Hotel Cordoba Center is located in Cordoba's Manzana de Oro, or Golden District, adjacent to the high speed train station. The hotel sits on a wide boulevard, and the immediate area features a large number of newly constructed buildings and broad avenues. The Christmas market is a short walk from the hotel, and it takes 20 minutes on foot to reach the historic quarter and Cordoba's famed Mosque. The Cordoba Center is easy to get to from the highway, and there is plenty of on-site underground parking for an additional charge.
Rooms
Rooms with wall-to-wall carpeting, canopy beds, and modern bathrooms
Rooms at the Hotel Cordoba Center are large and comfortable, if a touch dated, with dark wall-to-wall carpeting, canopy beds, and dark wood furniture. Junior suites have whirpool tubs; the elegant Presidential Suite is large enough to hold meetings and events in the huge living area. Guests report that showers are so confusing that instructions are posted nearby. Shower stalls, towels, and other flat surfaces are emblazoned with the Hoteles Center logo. The fourth floor is designated for smokers. Minibars, safes, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, abundant toiletries, and air-conditioning are offered in every room. Many rooms overlook the parking lot.
Features
Piano bar, outdoor pool, fitness center, and state-of-the-art meeting facilities
The Hotel Cordoba Center's piano bar is an ideal place to entertain clients over cocktails. The pool bar offers an unobstructed view of the city and stays open late. The large outdoor pool and hot tub are surrounded by artificial grass and sun beds (although there are not enough umbrellas to go around). There is a small fitness center with cardio equipment. The Al-Zagal Cafe Restaurant, currently under renovation tag:revisit 12/1/2014, is elegant, with inlaid wood and stone floors, white and plum-colored seating, and beautiful abstract photos of ferns set in the walls by the entrance. A free breakfast buffet is also served daily in the restaurant and room service is available. The hotel offers a variety of meeting facilities, with wedding services and state-of-the-art technology.
