The hotel itself has loads of amenities, especially for a three-pearl property, including an outdoor swimming pool, spa with whirlpool and treatment rooms, and a terrace rooftop bar overlooking the beach and promenade. Rooms are clean with hardwood floors, and most have nice views of the water, although suites offer a marked upgrade in style.
Scene
A large resort on the Mediterranean Sea
The Helios Costa Tropical combines Mediterranean and Spanish architecture with tropical accents. Green vines and plants overhang the balconies in the interior courtyard lobby. Bold blue star patterns on the ceiling really pop against the white marble and white walls. Murals of the sea are painted near the elevator. Geometric and arched columned doorways add Spanish flavor throughout the hotel, and a bar with a terrace overlooks the Mediterranean. The hotel offers evening entertainment, and afternoon entertainment programs for kids.
Location
On the coast of Almuñecar in a tourist-friendly neighborhood

The Helios Costa Tropical is centrally located for walking (the botanic garden and San Miguel Castle are nearby), plus there's a bus stop just outside the hotel's front doors. Taxis are easy to come by. The area is more laid-back than glamorous: Think grocery stores instead of nightclubs.
