Bottom Line

Florida Spa is an upper-middle-range hotel with 184 rooms located on the beach. Though the hotel offers a pool and multiple on-site restaurants and bars, the most notable feature is undoubtedly its modern spa facilities. There, guests can utilize two indoor pools, saunas, and receive a variety of treatments. Rooms are well-sized, though the decor is a bit dated; bathrooms, however, are modern and amenities include safes and flat-screen TVs. All rooms have a furnished balcony, too, with at least partial sea views. The hotel seems to cater predominantly to older couples, so families looking for a similar experience with more kid-friendly features might prefer Iberostar Marbella Coral Beach.

Scene

Geared toward adults looking for some waterfront relaxation

From the exterior, Hotel Florida Spa is attractive and modern, with mirrored-glass windows and balconies with blue-tinted panels. Inside, the hotel's decor is a disjointed mix of green marble floors, wood paneling behind the mixed-marble reception desk, and seating ranging from bright-red cushions around a column to green sofas. Potted plants and a lobby bar are welcome touches, though. All of the restaurant and bars have a different design, though expect lots of color and a variety of seating. The Miami Bar is a particularly decorative spot, with a stained-glass ceiling acting as its centerpiece. Undoubtedly, the waterfront location and widespread sea views because of this are the drawcard for this property. It predominantly sees older couples and because of this, the vibe is quiet and relaxed.

Location

Waterfront hotel, close to must-see spots

Florida Spa has a prime location right on the beach and near the marina and promenade. Sould Park -- just a one-minute walk away -- is a common tourist destination, especially for those traveling with children as it has so many entertainment options. Another popular spot with visitors to the area is the Fuengirola Street Market, a walkable 24 minutes away. Surrounding the hotel are countless bar and restaurant options. Well-known in the area, Pogs The Old Irish Pub is just a two-minute walk away, The London Pub Fuengirola is four minutes away, Speakeasy Jazz Club & Cocktails is eight minutes, and Pan y Chocolate is 10 minutes away.

Rooms

A bit dated room decor, but modern amenities

Rooms at Florida Spa are bright and spacious, outfitted in attractive light-wood floors, streamlined wood furniture, and pale-yellow and light-green walls. Floral-patterned bedding, striped curtains, and floral artwork dates the space, however. Mirrored closets and sliding glass doors leading to balconies let in lots of natural light. Balconies are furnished and all provide at least partial sea views. Modern amenities include air-conditioning, bathrobes and slippers, flat-screen TVs, free in-room safes, mini-fridges, and coffee and tea-making facilities. Bathrooms are sleek, featuring white marble and slate gray tiles, stainless steel fixtures, and glass counters and sinks. Bathrooms have walk-in showers or shower/tub combos with separate showers, wall-mounted hairdryers, and free bath products.

Features

Small pool and beach access, plus lovely spa facilities

For a 184-room hotel, the outdoor pool is surprisingly small. However, most guests report it's not a problem and there are plenty of metal loungers and umbrellas. There is also a private cabana that houses a massage table should guests wish to be pampered poolside. Guests have access to the pretty beach with calm water, and there are cushioned loungers and umbrellas for rent. As its name implies, a notable feature is unsurprisingly their spa facilities. In the spa area, there are two different pools, and rooms for a variety of treatment such as massages and body wraps (think chocolate or Dead Sea algae). Use of the sauna and steam room requires a fee, however, and there is no gym. There are many different bar and dining options on the property, too. The main buffet eatery requires formal wear for dinner service, plus there's a more casual snack bar and four different bars. Food at the buffet is reportedly varied and of a good quality. Evening entertainment generally receives positive reviews.Wi-Fi is free throughout.
