Conveniently located a short walk from the promenade and beach, Ecuador Park Apartments is a lower-middle-range hotel that offers a central location sans the typical nighttime noise. There are 50 apartment-style rooms with either attractive and contemporary or traditional, dated furnishings; all have a kitchenette, free Wi-Fi, and a flat-screen TV, as well as a furnished terrace. It's worth noting that some rooms lack air-conditioning and one block doesn't have an elevator. On-site features include a well-sized but unheated pool with loungers and a pool bar that operates seasonally. With few entertainment options for children, the hotel is better suited to adult groups and couples. Families traveling to the area should consider Hotel Puente Real, which offers plenty of on-site amenities for both children and adults.
Scene
Small, well-kept property with mostly contemporary decor
Ecuador Park Apartments is a well-located and well-kept property that primarily attracts couples and adult groups. The L-shaped building is painted a pleasant pale yellow and has white metal railings, and the terra-cotta entryway with Spanish tile is pretty. The design is mostly contemporary and colorful throughout, though a handful of rooms have outdated decor that's in need of a refresh. The tiny reception area has light-wood floors, blue-gray desk and walls, and a deep-red accent wall with a woven effect. It's not much of a lounge space, though there is a black-leather couch and a stocked bookshelf. Aside from this, the only other public space is the outdoor pool with seasonal bar. Despite its setting near restaurants and bars, the vibe is mostly peaceful.
Location
Central and convenient location, a short walk from the promenade, beach, and eateries
Ecuador Park Apartments offers guests a prime location. It's a 19-minute drive from Malaga Airport, and from the hotel, there's much to do within walking distance. The promenade is just a few minutes' walk away, and the beach, Playa de la Carihuela, is just 10 minutes on foot. For those who choose to self-cater, there are a few supermarkets about a five-minute walk away, plus there are countless other shops in the area, too. Bar and restaurant options also abound.
Rooms
Most apartment-style rooms are modern and colorful
The 50 apartment-style rooms are comfortably sized and have either attractive, modern furnishings or outdated decor that's in need of a refresh. Though some have traditional-looking wood or metal furniture and tired linens, most promise a bright and cheery design such as wood floors, streamlined wood furniture painted white or slate-gray, blue accent walls, and multi-colored striped bedding. Kitchenettes with backsplash, turquoise tile in bathrooms, and colorful artwork are charming details. Surprisingly, though, some rooms don't have air-conditioning and one apartment block lacks an elevator. All rooms do promise a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and a kitchenette with a microwave, dining and cooking necessities, a mini-fridge, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and electric burners. Rooms also have a furnished terrace. One-Bedroom Apartments have separate sitting areas with sofa beds and dining sets. All bathrooms have a glass-enclosed walk-in shower and a small amount of free bath products.
Features
Well-sized pool with free sunbeds, free Wi-Fi, and a seasonal pool bar
On-site features may leave something to be desired, particularly for those traveling with children. There's no full restaurant, gym, or kids' club. However, the on-site pool is well-sized, and the pool itself and surrounding deck are well-maintained. It's lined with plenty of free sunbeds, but the pool isn't heated and can be chilly. Also by the pool is a small seasonally operated snack bar; dining tables set up just beside the pool deck area for guests to lounge at while enjoying a light bite. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
