Barcelo Isla Canela

Barcelo Isla Canela was renovated in 2016 to resemble a traditional Andalusian village, with the guest rooms and hotel amenities spread across a large property. Guests are welcomed into a bright open lobby with beautiful bricked arches throughout the room, including plenty of seating options, indoor fountains, and potted plants. Outside areas feature exquisite Andalusian gardens, with lush lawns, fountains, landscaped gardens, and large palm trees. The outdoor swimming pool has a shallow kids' pool and several surrounding loungers to enjoy the beautiful beach view. The restaurant includes both indoor and outdoor seating, with light neutral interiors and modern decor. There's an evening entertainment program, though it's mostly catered to older guests. With its kid-friendly features, Barcelo Isla Canela is mostly suited to family travelers, along with older couples, and provides little appeal to young travelers.

The hotel is located on the beautiful Isla Canela Beach, in a quiet residential area in Ayamonte. The surrounding area includes mostly luxury houses and other hotels, though there are a handful of restaurants and bars within walking distance along the beachfront. Besides the Isla Canela Beach, there's not much else to explore in the area without a car. The location is ideal for golf lovers with several golf courses within an hours' drive, such as: Isla Canela Golf Club (six-minute drive away), Islantilla Golf Club (32-minute drive away), Costa Esuri Golf Club (33-minute drive away), Golf el Rompido (44-minute drive away), and Nuevo Portil Golf (48-minute drive away). It's an hours' drive to Faro Airport and an hour- and 45-minute drive to Seville Airport.

Barcelo Isla Canela's 349 guest rooms are bright and airy, with a modern beachy feel. Rooms feature elegant decor with soft colors, classic white furniture, accent walls, and beach themed artwork. Most of the rooms include a balcony or terrace and have either garden, pool, or sea views. All include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, desks, telephones, and free Wi-Fi. The Double Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites have electric kettles and free minibars. Bathrooms include walk-in showers with hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and free eco-friendly house brand toiletries. Features here cater to families who want to spend most of their vacation eating and playing in the water. The restaurant offers buffet-style dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfasts are not included in all room rates, though guests can book meal packages with their rooms. There's a Lounge Bar for relaxed drinks indoors or the poolside snack bar for drinks and light snacks by the pool. The large outdoor swimming pool includes a shallow kids' section and provides sun loungers and parasols overlooking the beach. There's a smaller indoor swimming pool and hot tub in the hotel's spa, where there's also a variety of beauty and relaxation treatments available. The fitness center is quite small, with only a few older Technogym cardio machines and some weight-training equipment. There are also two tennis courts. 

Kids are kept entertained with the daily entertainment program at the kids' club and playground. There's evening entertainment for adults, though it's skewed towards older guests.
