Rooms are modern and spacious with balconies, and some have sea views, but furnishings are showing a little wear and tear. Primarily frequented by families, the hotel is teeming with tots (and offers kid-friendly amenities like a kids' club and playground) so couples may consider elsewhere. However, the spa is a nice spot for romance.
Scene
Guests tend to be families making use of the multiple pools and public areas
The Barcelo Cabo de Gata has a plain white exterior leading to a large, airy lobby with brown wicker seating and red cushions. Having opened in 2005, the hotel is more modern than other hotels in the area; a visually stunning wooden and glass patterned roof above the reception area adds light, bouncing off the white marble floor. The grounds are well landscaped and covered with palm trees, blooming flowers ,and stone pathways.Although couples come to the hotel for its convenient beach access, quieter location, large pools ,and relaxing spa facilities, guests are still primarily families. The children's pool, playground, and animation during certain months all help keep little ones busy. During the high season, guests should expect lines at the restaurants.
