Charming, romantic boutique
The Balcon de Cordoba is a modern boutique with a long history. Built in a 17th-century Andalusian house, the hotel has three lovely courtyards with fountains, lush greenery, a full-grown orange tree, handmade mosaic stepping stones, and decorative tiles. Each courtyard features wood or stone benches and/or shabby chic-style tables and chairs. The hotel houses a vast collection of ancient artifacts, including columns, statues, and fragments of Roman gravestones. The lobby is relaxed and chic, with Spanish studded wooden doors, elaborate ironwork, and a rough-hewn wooden table used as a front desk. The rooftop terrace offers a 360-degree panorama, with unparalleled views of Cordoba's famous Mosque. The restaurant and bar are modern, with simple, sophisticated banquettes and a bright, airy feel.
Location
Down a narrow, cobblestone street by Cordoba's famous Mosque
The Balcon de Cordoba is located down a narrow cobblestone street and can be difficult to find in Cordoba's historic district, even via GPS. An ideal spot for tourists, the hotel is beside one of the city's major tourist attractions, the Cathedral-Mosque of Cordoba, as well as numerous other museums and historic churches. The immediate area includes plenty of bars, restaurants, shops, and other small businesses.
Rooms
Clean, individually decorated rooms, with luxe bathrooms and memory foam mattresses
Rooms at the Balcon de Cordoba are spotless and charming, individually named and decorated, and all done in harmonious beiges, whites, and greys. Some rooms have picturesque wrought iron balconies (worth the cost), and the deluxe room, Ruzbahan, has a private roof deck with an outdoor bed. All rooms offer memory foam mattresses, pillow menus, and blackout drapes, for restful sleep. Bathrooms are done in buttery sandstone with double sinks and luxury toiletries. Rooms feature unique art and sculpture, and some have exquisitely carved wooden doors. These and many more original touches add to this hotel’s high romance factor.
