Apartamentos Leo Punta Umbría are a cluster
of three buildings with one- and two-bedroom apartment-style suites. The
simple, modern units get a sizable amount of light and offer a cost-effective
option for staying in a tourist-driven town. There are a few bars and
restaurants around the hotel as well as a cinema, but little service provided in the Leo Punta Umbría
itself. It's about a 20-minute walk to the town center, which might be a
deterrent to some travelers. Still, prices are low for a mid-range hotel with an outdoor swimming pool and a beach.
Scene
Simple, modern scene with little catering to guests
With a fairly unassuming building facade on a
street dotted with a few restaurants, bars, and other hotels, the Leo Punta Umbría's
lobby surprises with its high ceilings, dark modern furniture, large plants,
and abstract wall paintings. It fancies up the space a bit, despite most of the
seating being cushioned wicker. Some tourism brochures sit near reception, but
the sense of hospitality extends no further. Apartamentos Leo Punta Umbría function
much like actual apartments with little catering to guests beyond housekeeping.
The pool area is plain but comfortable, with
blue mesh chaise lounges and a sparkling blue pool. The children's pool is
fenced in for safety, not far from the sun chairs.
Location
Some nearby shops and bars, but reaching the center of town requires a walk
Apartamentos
Leo Punta Umbría are not isolated by any means, but it's about a 20-minute walk
to the center of town, where most of the shops, nightlife, and attractions are.
The beach is just a few minutes’ walk away, and has chairs and umbrellas
available to rent. Around the property are a few shops, bars, restaurants, and
a cinema. The closest airport is actually in Faro, Portugal, more than
an hour west by car, while Seville Airport is almost 90 minutes to the east.****
Rooms
Moderately sized, modern, and bright with peach accents and kitchenettes
The
suites at the Leo Punta Umbría are moderately sized, modernly furnished, and
generally clean and bright. With peach accent walls, blonde wood furniture, and
large windows, the units look airy and light. There’s a small seating area with
a love seat, chair, flat-screen TV, and dining table. Kitchenettes include a four-burner
stove, microwave, toaster, and full-sized fridge as well as dishware for six or
more. Bedrooms are simple and similar in design to the living area, with peach
and pink motifs and warm lighting. Bathrooms consist of plain white tile and include
bathtubs and free shampoo. The property has both one- and two-bedroom
apartments. Keep in mind that though there's a daily cleaning service, bed linens and towels are changed only every four days.****
Features
Best for guests looking for a quieter vacation and option to cook at home
With
few added amenities, the Leo Punta Umbría's best selling point is its spacious
apartment-style suites with kitchens, which provide a cost-effective travel
option for do-it-yourself guests.
A coin-operated laundry is available on the premises as well. It’s
only a short walk to the beautiful pebble and sand beach nearby, or guests can
lounge by the medium-sized pool in the courtyard. There’s no restaurant
on-site, but there are a few dining options in the area. It requires more of a
trek to reach more vibrant nightlife, making this hotel best for families
traveling on a budget. Expect to pay extra for parking and Wi-Fi. ****
