Hyatt Place at Anaheim Resort/Convention Center

This modern chain hotel that opened in late 2014 stays
busy year-round with convention delegates as well as families heading to Disneyland. The five-story building is simple and clean-lined in shades of brown and beige, and it's framed by palm trees and thick, lush tropical plants. A small lovely garden fronts the building, and glass paneling extends from ground to roof at the entranceway. Inside, the lobby
exudes a cheerful and casual ambiance, with wood paneling that matches some of
the contemporary furniture. One cozy corner is framed by aqua-blue walls and
has butterscotch leather benches and bright-orange, circular armchairs. Brightly colored throw pillows top a brown section sofa, and a polka-dot wall hanging completes the space. Elsewhere in the lobby, colorful artwork and framed photos depict
scenes of oceans and trees. The small lobby bar stays busy all day, as it
serves coffee in the morning and cocktails during the evening, when weary business travelers gather for drinks. 

The Hyatt Place is on a fairly quiet road lined with other hotels and casual restaurants accessible within a few minutes' walk. It's about a 10-minute
drive from Disneyland Park and a 12-minute walk (or five-minute drive) from the Anaheim Convention
Center. The Anaheim Resort Transit (ART) buses stop right outside the hotel and
take about nine minutes to reach the convention center and 11 minutes to arrive
at Disney’s main entrance. The Downtown
Disney District and access to Interstate 5 are about six minutes away by car. The Angel Stadium of Anaheim and the Outlets at Orange are approximately an
eight-minute drive each. Sunset Beach and Newport Beach are about 30 minutes away, and Knott’s Berry Farm is a 15- to 20-minute drive. Approximate driving times to the John Wayne
Airport and LAX are about 20 and 40 minutes, respectively, depending on traffic. 

The spacious rooms at this Hyatt feature a natural and contemporary
decor that showcases lighter shades of brown and gray. They are carpeted and sparsely
decorated which accentuates their ample size. Each room has a queen-size sleeper sofa, as well as a chocolate-brown leather office chair and ottoman. In some rooms, attractive semi-sheer screens partially separate the rooms into two spaces for sleeping and relaxing. High-quality, matching wood furniture in an oak finish includes desks and armoires with partially frosted-glass doors. Standard rooms come in King and Double Queen
options. King Family rooms offer more space and include twin bunk beds that are
separated from the king bedroom by French doors. Both spaces have wall-mounted,
42-inch TVs that swivel (Standard rooms have one such TV each). Bathrooms feature spacious wood vanities with white ceramic tops and
back-lit wall mirrors. They have walk-in showers with clear glass doors or shower/tub combos outfitted with KenetMD toiletries. All rooms have mini-fridges and single-cup coffeemakers (with tea, as well). Safes and ironing facilities come standard, and Wi-Fi is free. 

This Hyatt Place property checks off all the expected features for the brand, offering extra comforts for both its business traveler and tourist clientele. Guests give high marks to the full hot breakfast buffet that’s
included in room rates. Items include scrambled eggs, French toast and pancakes, sausages, and fresh fruit and yogurt. The lobby also has a 24-hour pantry that sells baked
goods, sandwiches, Starbucks coffee, and other beverages. The hotel's 24-hour Galley Menu offers freshly prepared meals around the clock, though there's no room service. A small bar serving coffee in the morning and alcohol in the evening is in the
lobby as well. The outdoor pool is a bit small but it’s heated and has an
adjacent whirlpool. The 24-hour fitness center offers several cardio and weight-training
machines as well as free weights. Meeting space is available for up to 80 people, in one room that can be divided. The business center has four computer stations
with Internet access and printers. The underground parking garage has an
elevator that stops at each floor so guests don’t have to get on a second
elevator in the lobby to reach their rooms. Parking is not free, but it's
reasonably priced compared to rates charged by other hotels nearby. Free Wi-Fi
is accessible throughout the property. Valet dry cleaning
services are offered, and there is an ATM. No pets are allowed. Self-serve laundry facilities are available next door to the hotel, but not on-site.
