apartments and studios with well-equipped kitchens and spotless
bathrooms. The location in the picturesque Oud Zuid neighborhood is
ideal for leisure travelers exploring Amsterdam, within walking distance of the Museum
Quarter and well-connected to public transportation. All apartments and studios have
living areas, fully equipped kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and some have
balconies. This is a “self-service” property with no reception or on-site staff. Guests communicate with staff via an intercom
and cameras, which some guests find too impersonal. There is also no
breakfast service here. Travelers may also want to check out
the nearby Heemskerk Suites also offering apartments with full
kitchens and a few extras like free drinks and snacks on arrival, and
free on-site laundry facilities.
Scene
A residential building with no reception or common areas
Nova
Apartments Amsterdam occupies a historic four-story building dating
back to the 19th century, with a charming brick facade and
windows decorated with original stained glass. The large double
entrance doors open to a foyer and a staircase and elevator.
There is no reception area or even a reception desk: Guests are
requested to communicate with staff via an intercom, and comings and
goings are monitored by cameras. Once the guests' identity has been
confirmed, the automatic door is opened, and they will find a welcome
letter and key in the apartment. The aim is to make guests feel like they're
staying in their own residential apartment, since the property does
not have a hotel set up. Some guests enjoy this independent “self
service” arrangement, while others find it too impersonal. This is
a popular place to stay for couples and families visiting Amsterdam
as leisure travelers.
Location
In central Amsterdam near the Museum Quarter
Nova
Apartments Amsterdam is situated in the Oud Zuid neighborhood in
central Amsterdam, within walking distance of the Museum Quarter,
where many well-known galleries and museums are located, like
the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum. The area is well-connected
by public transport, and the city's efficient tram and bus
system. There are many bars, cafes, and restaurants in the immediate
vicinity, as well as shops and supermarkets. - Seven-minute walk to Van Gogh Museum
Rooms
Modern, comfortable apartments and studios with fully equipped kitchens
The self-contained units at Nova Apartments Amsterdam vary in size. Studios are designed to accommodate a
maximum of two people, while the apartments are suitable for up to
two adults and two children. Apartments are spacious and bright,
thanks to the large floor-to-ceiling windows and high ceilings. Throughout decor is chic and modern, with bright red accent walls, stylish
lamps, brown carpeting, and gray upholstered convertible sofas. Kitchens are amazingly well-equipped with cooking ranges with range
hoods, combination microwaves/ovens, refrigerators, and even
dishwashers, along with pots, pans, utensils, crockery, and cutlery.
Units are also equipped with electric kettles and separate coffeemakers. Apartments also have two flat-screen TVs: one in the bedroom and another
in the living area, which also features a CD player. Studios have
the same amenities, but the bedrooms, seating and dining areas are
merged into one space, and there's no second TV. Spotless
white bathrooms are not very roomy, and are fitted with shower/tub
combos and have free toiletries.Some
of the apartments have balconies, but the studios are located in the
basement and have small windows that let in little natural light.
Also, the elevator does not descend to the basement, making it a
challenge to negotiate the narrow spiral staircase with luggage. Be aware that units don't have air-conditioning.
Features
Free Wi-Fi and shopping service
As
a self-service property with no on-site staff, Nova Apartments offers
very few extras. There is no reception, but staff can be reached via the intercom system or by phone to answer any questions guests may have. There are also no common areas and no
breakfast service -- guests are expected to prepare
their breakfast in their equipped kitchens or eat at a nearby cafe
or restaurant. The property does offer a shopping service (for extra fee) for guests who don't have time to stock their kitchen. A free Wi-Fi connection is available in all the studios and apartments as well.
