Scene

Tiny, home-like bed and breakfast

Founded in 2010, this tiny bed and breakfast is consists of just three guest
rooms, a sitting area, a breakfast room with
adjoining kitchen, and a terrace. It’s located on the third floor of a 16th-century
building that was originally a convent and later turned into apartments. The B&B feels a bit like shared student housing. The main common area looks like a cluttered living room, with a knotty armoire and a tube TV sitting atop a wooden stand filled with papers. There are a glass display case of limoncello and local souvenirs, a bulletin board covered in pamphlets and announcements, and a worn striped couch that sits under a huge picture of the bay, all topped off by a quirky chandelier. Kiddos are welcome here, but most of the guests are international couples who want to save money while exploring the area.

Location

Conveninent, central location near the seafront and walking distance to local attractions

The Salerno Centro's biggest selling point is its central location -- it's a two-minute walk to the seafront and within easy walking distance of most of the area's attractions. It's a 10-minute walk to the train station and the ferry dock, which has service to Amalfi, Positano, and Capri. Pontecagnano Airport is a 25-minute drive away.

Rooms

Three guest rooms, each with a private bathroom

There are three rooms at the Salerno Centro: the Amalfi Triple Room, the Ravello Twin Room, and the Positano Standard Room, which comes with a double bed. The Postiano Room also has a large, mostly covered terrace lined with plants, as well as a table with chairs and a lounge chair situated in an uncovered corner of the terrace that does get some sun. This room was refurbished with new, white furniture in 2015. Rooms have flat-screen TVs, small minibars, ceiling fans, A.C. units, and free Wi-Fi. Decor consists mostly of clumsy wooden furniture, with wrought-iron bed frames in the Ravello. . Each room has a private bathroom with mosaic tile, a wall-mounted hairdryer and walk-in shower,
but the Ravello’s bathroom, while still private, is outside the room in the hallway.

Features

A made-to-order daily breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and room minibars are nice extras in this budget B&B

For a budget B&B, the Salerno goes a bit further with its minibars, made-to-order breakfasts, flat-screen TVs in the rooms, and free Wi-Fi. The customized breakfast is served on a spacious covered terrace,  or in a homey breakfast room, depending on the weather. While there's no full kitchen for guests to use, there is a microwave and coffeemaker available to them. Staff at the family-owned property is happy to pack a to-go breakfast or organize excursions and tours.
