Lloyd’s is a budget pick that has access to a lovely beach (for a fee). Some rooms have nice terrace areas, but those with balconies have either lovely views of the Mediterranean or drab views of a loud shipyard. Although babysitting is available, the hotel seems geared toward budget-minded couples, as it has no pool -- but it does have its own beach disco. The historic village of Vietri is a five-minute walk away, and there's on-site parking and an airport shuttle. However, rooms are generally stark and the free Wi-Fi is unreliable.
Scene
Spacious with modern amenities, but drab decor
Even though the lobby and some rooms were renovated in 2013 to include vibrantly colored furniture and sleek, simple finishes, they nonetheless have a decidedly budget vibe. The indoor lounge areas and restaurants feel stark and boxy, but outdoor spaces are nice with foliage that lines the terrace areas and lovely views from various points of the resort. Considering its location, cheap rates, and on-site beach disco, it's no surprise that this hotel mostly attracts budget-minded couples and singles.
Location
On the beach, with walking distance of Vietri village
Centrally located between Salerno and Vietri sul Mare, the hotel is a few minutes' stroll from central Vietri and a 15-minute walk to the Ceramica Solimene ceramics factory. Salerno is a 10-minute drive away. The front of the hotel is evenly split by a lovely beach and the not-so-lovely harbor, from where you can take ferries to Positano, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast.
Rooms
Some rooms have been updated, but all have a budget look with simple decor.
This large hotel has 130 rooms and eight suites. The standard rooms have not been updated and use colors and decor that unquestionably dates back to the 1970s, with clashing upholstery and floor tiles. The renovated deluxe rooms and suites have simple, modern furnishings and bathrooms featuring locally made ceramic tile that could be considered either garish or bright and cheerful. All rooms have flat-screen TVs and small balconies. Some have lovely views of the sea; others look out onto the shipyard. Wi-Fi is free but unreliable.
Features
Around-the-clock concierge, beach with disco, and babysitting
Lloyd's has three restaurants, room service, large meeting facilities, and outdoor terraces, and the 24-hour concierge service can arrange babysitting, tours, and transportation. The beach has a disco that runs until late at night on weekends, which is a hit with partiers and a nightmare for guests who want a good night's sleep. Wi-Fi ranges from spotty to non-existent in rooms, but it works well enough in the lobby and meeting area.
