One of the priciest hotels in Positano, this luxury boutique is also perhaps the most beautiful and it lives up to its upscale reputation with pristine grounds, thoughtful free extras (like snacks and boat trips), and a renowned restaurant. Rooms feature antique furniture and modern appliances, but some are small and/or noisy. That said, it's an excellent choice for those who can afford it and seek a central location, gorgeous spa, and spectacular views from all around.

A boutique luxury hotel, the Sirenuse was originally built as a lavish summer mansion in the 1950s and still maintains a homey but elegant ambiance. The exterior red hue is striking and the interior colors are equally vibrant. The lobby, though comfortable, has a museum-like quality with an assortment of antique furniture and rare, eclectic artwork, all complemented by meticulously placed potted ferns and climbing vines on the walls. The building is situated into the cliffs of Positano, with views of the hillside town and the sprawling sea. It exudes laid-back luxury.

A short jaunt from the historic Santa Maria Assunta church, the Spiaggia Grande, and La Gavitella, the Sirenuse is in the town center of Positano, with the pedestrian zone, shops, and beach accessible by a 50-step staircase. The sparkling bay sits directly below the property and the town’s lovely white buildings rise above the hotel on both sides.

Ornate and tasteful, but standard deluxe rooms are small
Almost all of 58 rooms have balconies with amazing views, but the suites are considerably larger than the smallish deluxe rooms and are equipped with separate lounge areas. Rooms over the pool can be noisy. The décor and furnishings are unique in every room; all feature antique furniture, hand-painted tiles, flat-screen TVs, and marble bathrooms with large whirlpool tubs. Beds come with feather toppers and bedding by luxury linen company Frette. Free Wi-Fi and iPod docks also come standard; the hotel also offers loaner iPods to use throughout your stay.

The Sirenuse offers a daily lineup of special activities including yoga, cocktail-making classes, and shopping at the fish market with the hotel chef. There's an oyster and champagne bar as well as a Michelin-starred restaurant that's kept illuminated with some 400 candles every night. Daily breakfast is included in the rates and Wi-Fi is free throughout. An on-site fitness center and small outdoor lap pool (with amazing views) round out the amenities.
