Scene

A small boutique offering expansive sea views from all rooms and most common spaces

Housed in four-story structure built directly on the side of a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, the Eden Roc is known for its views. All of its 25 rooms have balconies or terraces facing the sea, and most of its common spaces offer expansive Mediterranean vistas, including the rooftop pool and the restaurant. From the outside, the property has a strong local feel, with a white and stone façade covered in plants and flowers, arches, and large windows with mustard-colored shutters. Interiors, however, are much more classic, with antique-style furniture, ceiling moldings, and lots of wood accents. The lobby is a long, rectangular space with a small sitting area featuring a blue couch, two chairs, a  coffee table and several vases with plants. Arched doorways with heavy red drapes lead to  the wine bar, which has similar classic decor with golden candelabra, wooden chairs, and a small wooden bar with stools. Opposite is the breakfast room, which offers sidewalk seating and a large buffet spread with pastries, meats, cheese, cakes and fresh fruit.

Location

On a steep slope a short walk from the beach and the city center

The hotel is located on a small, single-lane street on the eastern end of town. Positano’s main beach is just a short walk away, and there are dozens of restaurants, taverns and small shops within a few minutes of Eden Roc. The street where the hotel is located is steep and winding, but guests can access the city center and the beach via a long set of steep stairs. Santa Maria Assunta church and other central Positano attractions are all a 15-minute walk away. A nearby bus stop also offers easy access to the smaller Fornillo Beach and to all other major attractions in the area.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with panoramic sea views, classic decor, and jetted tubs

Rooms at Hotel Eden Roc are spacious and clean, with large windows opening onto terraces or balconies offering expansive sea views. Decor is classic, with a few antique-style pieces of furniture, heavy drapes, and ceiling moldings. While the style is elegant, some guests find it somewhat dated and bland. Modern amenities include free Wi-Fi, small flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, and safes. Bathrooms are clean and spacious, with jetted shower/tub combos and a wide array of toiletries. Jacuzzi Suites have hot tubs on the terrace.

Features

A rooftop pool, an Italian restaurant with views, a wine bar, a massage room, a tiny fitness center, and parking

The centerpiece of the Eden Roc is the rooftop deck, which has a small pool and a wooden deck offering stunning sea views. There are several loungers and parasols, and guests can order drinks from Adamo ed Eva Restaurant, located just a short flight of stairs down from the deck. Additionally, the restaurant serves tasty Italian cuisine on a covered deck with panoramic views of Positano and the Mediterranean. A huge buffet spread with jams, pastries, coffee, meats, cheeses and juices is offered every morning in the breakfast room located off the lobby. The wine bar is a nice spot for a quiet nightcap, and it also offers wine tasting hours for a fee. A tiny, somewhat cramped fitness center has a handful of cardio machines as well as a massage room and a steam room. Private parking and free Wi-Fi are also available.
