Bottom Line

The 62-room,
four-pearl Le Parc Hotel Restaurant & Spa is a posh hotel showcasing ornate
woodwork, stained glass, and fine art. The individually decorated rooms, Asiane spa, two pools, fine-dining restaurant, and location along the Alsace
Wine Route highlight an impressive package. Guests generally love the overall
experience, but it comes with a hefty price tag for dining and spa treatments.
The property is also somewhat isolated, about a 10-minute walk to the center of Obernai
with few other dining options within a reasonable walk. There are comparable upscale options nearby, such as the Hostellerie des Chateaux & Spa in Ottrott, a property that includes some spa treatments in room rates.

Scene

Soothing and sophisticated spa hotel with fine dining

This Tudor-style property greets guests out front with charming rock gardens filled with greenery and colorful flowers. The circular
reception desk framed in stainless steel and illuminated by modern lights
belies the rest of this classy hotel’s traditional Alsatian environment.
Everywhere one looks throughout the public spaces, there's a visual feast of
fine art, stained glass, and ornate woodwork on wall paneling, ceilings, and
furniture. The craftsmanship with fine woods is especially showcased in the
hotel’s restaurants and bar, where carved wood envelops guests. The bar’s dark
wood mixes with its deep red carpet, sofas, and chairs to create a soothing and
sophisticated space that characterizes the essence of this hotel where guests
come to enjoy fine food and relax at the decadent Asian spa. The Le Stub casual
restaurant is brighter but no less impressive, with light pine and natural wood
columns filling every corner, from head to toe, creating a cozy, French country
kitchen atmosphere. Overall, this hotel is casual elegance at its finest drawing a mix of families, and younger and older couples.

Location

In a quiet village in the Alsace countryside

Le Parc is
located just outside Obernai, a historic village in the Alsace countryside
that dates back to the Medieval period. It sits along the Alsace Wine
Route, about a 35-minute drive from the noted Alsatian wine towns of Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé. The historic fortified castle,
Chateau Du Haut-Koenigsbourg, also is about 35 minutes away. Another popular attraction Mont Sainte-Odile, a mountain topped with a monastery, is a 20-minute drive. Strasbourg’s
international airport and main train station are approximately 25 to 30 minutes
away, and Colmar is a 40-minute drive. The Obernai train station is a
five-minute drive, as are several restaurants in the village. A few restaurants
are within a brief walk of less than five minutes, and more are about 10 to 15
minutes walking in the center of the village. Bike rentals are just outside the
hotel. The Tennis Club Obernai, a two-minute walk away, has 14 courts available, and
there's a municipal park opposite the property for leisurely walks.

Rooms

Individually decorated with variances in size, style, and configuration

Rooms are spacious and come in five categories. They are
individually and distinctively decorated and can vary by size and configuration
within their respective category. Standards (215 to 237 square feet) and
Executives (258 to 301 square feet) can be either contemporary or Alsatian in style, while
the Deluxe (323 to 377 square feet), Junior Suites (431 to 517 square feet), and Family Suites (646 square feet)
come mostly in Alsatian design. Both styles feature bold red and other rich
colors, and high-quality furnishings such as finely upholstered or leather
sofas. The Alsatian design, like much of the hotel’s public spaces, features ornate
woodwork and natural wood paneling and doors, exposed beams, and matching
furniture that create a warm hue. Some have vaulted ceilings and skylights.
Fine art graces the walls, and striped or patterned carpet that’s a step above
standard hotel flooring is widely used. All rooms have large desks and the
Deluxe and Suite units have sitting areas, and many of them have private
terraces with furniture and garden views. A king or two joined twins are the
typical bed options, which feature white linens and duvets. Each Family Suite also has a second bedroom with bunk beds and an additional TV, and a dining area. Some
Junior Suites offer fireplaces, and some Deluxe Rooms have lovely dining
alcoves. Bathrooms are generally roomy and especially impressive. Many utilize
white tile and white granite vanities with some twin sinks or basin sinks.
Some have separate tubs and walk-in showers, while others have shower/tub
combos with glass doors. Some bathrooms also have separate toilet areas with
sinks, while others have vaulted ceilings and skylights. Deluxe Rooms and Suites
offer mini-fridges. All rooms have room service, air-conditioning,
flat-screen TVs, safes, hairdryers, robes, and magnifying mirrors. Pets can be
accommodated in certain rooms for a fee.
