Scene

Large all-suite hotel with a seven-story atrium

Opened in
1992 and renovated in 2013, this Embassy Suites is one of the largest hotels in
historic Old Town Alexandria. The light brick building fills the middle of a triangular
city block, with entrances on both Diagonal Road (right across from the King
Street Metro stop) and on Duke Street. In the center of the hotel is a dramatic
atrium enclosed by seven stories of hotel rooms and ceiling skylights. The
atrium is home to a large fountain, gift shop, lounge bar, dining area (where
the free breakfast buffet is served), and lots of leafy green plants. Style-wise,
the hotel’s decor is unimaginative a bit corporate, but the property feels well maintained. Most of the walls, floors, and furniture are
colored in bland shades of beige and reddish brown. With a
handful of meeting rooms, the hotel is a popular destination for corporate
events and weddings. Business travelers and families are the most common
clientele here.

great shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and charming historic buildings.

  • Seven-minute drive to Alexandria Waterfront (water taxisavailable to Georgetown)
  • 10-minute subway ride to Reagan National Airport (DCA)
  • 20-minute drive to the National Mall and Arlington NationalCemetery
  • 35-minute subway ride to Union Station
