Bottom Line

This massive, upper-middle-range resort provides all-inclusive service and a wide range of activities for leisure travelers on the coast of Turkey. A beautiful beach, multiple sprawling pools, several restaurants, a relaxing spa, and loads of fun kids’ activities --  a water park and bumper cars, to name a couple -- make it an excellent spot to spend days on-site. All 748 rooms have minibars, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and safes, but decor is generic, and they lack coffeemakers and high-end touches. Despite the incredible list of features, meals and customer service receive poor reviews. Another option is the Sentido Gold Island, which has a slightly more elegant design and adult-only section, but it lacks the huge range of facilities available at Long Beach.

Scene

Grand, contemporary hotel with expansive grounds and loads to do

Long Beach Resort Hotel is a sprawling coastal property with an abundance of entertainment and activities for all types of travelers. Families are particularly drawn to the extensive facilities geared toward children, but couples and business travelers alike will find needs met here. The many outdoor spaces are lovely, full of palm trees and greenery, but quiet spaces are few and far between. In addition to the property’s size, a tunnel under the roadway to access beach-side facilities makes for some long walks. Interiors are contemporary and attractive, and there are lots of large windows and terraces highlighting the beautiful sea views. The lobby is centered around an atrium under a glass ceiling, and glass elevators travel between hallways overlooking the space. Like many hotels in Turkey, this property falls shorts of its advertised five-star status, particularly with the chain-like rooms, underwhelming food, and mediocre service.

Location

On a busy coastal road, a 25-minute drive from the popular city of Alanya

The hotel is midway along Turkey’s southern coast, in the district of Alanya. It is on a busy road, surrounded by hotels, and there are a market and ATM around the corner, a five-minute walk away. There is a sea park a six-minute walk down the road. On the corner in front of the hotel, there’s a bus stop for easy access to sights and entertainment. Alanya -- popular for its gorgeous beaches and historic sights -- is a 25-minute drive from the hotel. The town’s medieval castle, now operating as an open-air museum with a stunning view, is a 35-minute drive from the hotel. Gazipasa Alanya Airport is a 60-minute drive away, and Antalya Airport is a 90-minute drive.

Rooms

Comfortable rooms with earth-tone decor, minibars, and kettles

A wide variety of categories offer comfortable, contemporary, and spacious rooms for all types of travelers. Typically, rooms have a warm color scheme consisting of two-toned wood furnishings, orange and brown linens, and generic modern artwork. Some rooms have lighter tones and accent colors vary, but all have a welcoming, albeit chain-like feel. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, kettles, and free safes, but coffeemakers are not provided. Balconies are furnished, and many have beautiful ocean views. Modern bathrooms have shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. Upgrades include rooms with extra beds or rooms, sitting rooms, private saunas, and whirlpools. A section of villas includes an exclusive pool with a staircase from island terraces to the second-floor balcony of each room.

Features

Extensive activities and fun facilities like a water park

This resort has everything guests need for a fun vacation, whether they leave the property or not. It is an ideal spot for water lovers, with over 650 yards (600 meters) of beach and pools spanning the entire length of the property. Cabanas and free loungers offer plenty of space on the beach, plus piers are loaded with sunbeds. Indoor and outdoor pools suit all types, and include heated pools for cooler weather, a saltwater pool, and some right on the beach. Kids will be well-entertained with a water park, wading pools, playground, amusement park rides, bumper cars, and activities in two mini-clubs. Adults seeking relaxation can head to a lovely spa where there are massage services, body treatments, whirlpools, a sauna, and a steam rooms. The spa’s fitness center is small given the size of the hotel, but it offers a decent range of equipment. Other activities are available at an extra charge, including bowling, water sports, and a game room. The all-inclusive buffet restaurant serves four meals daily (including a late breakfast). It is an appealing space with indoor and outdoor seating, but it is huge and becomes very crowded in the high season. Five a la carte eateries offer Turkish, Italian, Mediterranean, Chinese, and Mexican cuisine, and one meal per week is free. Snack options are also available much of the day, including Turkish pancakes and an ice cream buffet. Guests find the food satisfactory, but uninspiring and repetitive over a long stay. Wi-Fi is free in common areas and rooms.
