Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort
Ayios Yiannis

Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort is a design-forward luxury property with many of the same features (chic outdoor swimming pool, beach facilities, spa, restaurants) as its competitors in this price range. The suites have private swimming pools, two bedrooms, and telescopes for star gazing. Other guest rooms have minimal decor and outdoor balconies, though these are less than private. The small beach here is lovely, with loungers reserved for hotel guests only, but it's a bit pebbly. For access to a slightly wider stretch of sand, visitors might want to check out Myconian Villa Collection (overlooking Elia Beach) or Petasos Beach Hotel (located on a peninsula between the very popular Platis Yialos and Psarou beaches). Many, however, prefer the seclusion offered here.

Katikies Mykonos
Agios Ioannis, Mykonos

The 36-room, mid-range Apollonia Hotel & Resort is situated on the main road of Agios Ioannis, on a quiet hillside spot that's a five-minute walk from the beach. Beyond a cluster of other hotels there isn't much around, so guests need to rely on a car, or the local bus which stops outside. The hotel has a pretty outdoor pool with white loungers and a bar terrace overlooking the sea. There's also a buffet restaurant with free breakfast that hosts weekly traditional dinners. The rooms have great furnished balconies, but also dated bathrooms and underwhelming decor. There are several more polished hotels in the area, including the highly rated Lithos by Spyros & Flora just across the street.

De.Light Boutique Hotel
Agios Ioannis Diakoftis 84600 Greece

De.Light Boutique Hotel is a four-pearl hotel on scenic Agios Ioannis Bay. The location is quiet and relaxed, but the nightlife and attractions of Mykonos town are only a little over a 10-minute drive from the property. The 18 units at De.Light are all spacious suites and come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and balconies or terraces with bay views. Many also offer jetted tubs, and showers are high-tech. The bay-facing infinity pool is a highlight, with its poolside bar, and there's a small spa plus a fine-dining restaurant with Mykonos cuisine. An a la carte breakfast is free and includes a nice number of options. Nearby Saint John Hotel Villas & Spa has similar facilities and is cheaper, though it's a little more old school.

Bellissimo Resort
Epar.Od. Ormou Agiou Ioanni-Agiou Stefanou, Agios Ioannis Diakoftis 84600 Greece

The Bellissimo Resort is a boutique-style mid-range hotel with just 14 rooms, located a three-minute walk from Agios Ioannis Beach. There’s a relaxed vibe and the charming grounds have lovely Aegean Sea views, including from some of the spacious rooms, which have attractive balconies and small bathrooms. The beautiful saltwater pool features cabanas and sunbeds, and two all-day restaurants serve excellent Greek and Italian food (half-board packages are available). The buffet breakfast is free, but it gets mixed reviews. Wi-Fi and parking are free, and car and motorbike rental are available. The nearby Lithos by Spyros & Flora has rooms with larger bathrooms and kitchenettes.

Saint John Hotel Villas & Spa
Agios Ioannis Diakoftis 846 00 Greece

Saint John Hotel Villas & Spa is a full-service luxury resort located on a bluff overlooking the water, not too far (about two miles) from the town of Mykonos and the airport. The atmosphere is airy and relaxing, with a private beach and stylish indoor and outdoor pools. The hotel caters mostly to couples and families with children, offering pools for adults and kids, but has business and conference rooms for business travelers and events. All the pools have nice design elements or features -- one has a step bridge. Rooms are outfitted in white decor and are spacious with breathtaking views. It's an ideal scenic island retreat, though somewhat isolated. At the same time, it feels as if everything has been taken care of to the point that guests don't really need to leave the property unless they want to explore other parts of the island. As the surrounding area is hilly, the hotel provides a minivan to shuttle guests around. There's a currency exchange, car rental, gift shop, laundry service, and hairdresser on-site. There's also an outdoor tennis court.

Manoulas Mykonos Beach Resort
Main Street, Agios Ioannis Diakoftis 84600 Greece

Manoulas Mykonos Beach Resort is a three-pearl property overlooking Agios Ioannis Bay, about a two-minute walk to the beach and a 10-minute drive to town. The resort has a large saltwater pool with a poolside bar, plus an indoor cocktail bar and beachfront restaurant. Breakfast is included in the room rate, but guests have complained about its quality. The 76 rooms are pleasant, if slightly dated, with light accents and balconies or terraces, some of which have bay views. All rooms come with mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. Travelers might want to also consider the nearby De Light Boutique Hotel, which is more intimate and stylish, but rates are higher.

Lithos by Spyros & Flora
Epar.Od. Ormou Agiou Ioanni-Agiou Stefanou, Agios Ioannis Diakoftis 846 00 Greece

The 15-room Lithos by Spyros and Flora is an upscale boutique hotel located a few miles from central Mykonos, along the shore at Agios Ioannis Beach. Whitewashed and quintessentially Greek in appearance and decor, the hotel has been created with enormous attention to detail, from stylish poolside lounge chairs to unique stone and glass tables in the lobby. Rooms are very large, modern and stylish, with crisp white decor and elegant glass-enclosed showers, plus kitchenettes and private verandas with sea views. The pool terrace, with incredible vistas of the Aegean Sea, is perfect for a sophisticated cocktail as the sun goes down. This is a wonderful value for this category of property, but travelers wanting more amenities, like a spa and gym, could try the Myconian K Hotels.
